Free Music Review: Not the Beatles, but .......
Hit: 5 Stars

Having seen the movie, and being a Beatle's fan, I can see the animosity of people criticizing both the soundtrack and the film. However, this cover of Beatle's music is no worse than the recent covers done in "Across The Universe". Just remember a cover is a cover. There are some songs that didn't work, but for the most part, the Bee Gees and Peter Frampton did very well. I enjoyed Robin Gibb's cover of "Oh Darling" (which plays the full version on the album, but gets cut in the movie for the scene to work) and George Burns' rendition of "Fixing A Hole" (despite the album's editor editting the final 30 second sequence from the song, the full version is in the movie).

The rest of the album is also outstanding with Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together" and Earth, Wind, & Fire's version of "Got To Get You Into My Life". Billy Preston's cover of "Get Back" is also worth it's weight. I recommend this CD set on it's cover value and it's placement in pop culture history.

Free Music Review: Great Musical
Hit: 5 Stars

If you love musicals this is a must have! This is one of the best musical movies ever made, and I don't give this kind of praise lightly. The Bee Gees sing Beatles songs better than The Beatles themselves (forgive me, even though The Beatles were musical geniuses, it is true). Even my youngest (at four years old) is fascinated by this movie and regularly requests to watch it. George Burns narrates and takes you on a pleasant nostalgic trip back in time. With the great array of singers (The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Earth Wind and Fire and so many more) you will be singing and dancing along with the whole movie. Then you have the opportunity to try to name all the famous people in the closing song. I bet you can't name them all! Amazing and Highly Recommended. Enjoy this one.

Free Music Review: to those disco freaks that love cheesy films!
Hit: 5 Stars

Yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Peter Frampton and the Brothers Gibb and I'm an even BIGGER fan of cheesy films. I've been hunting down this soundtrack on CD since wearing out the VHS I checked out from the library. After having the DVD fall on my foot at my local Walgreen's (and watching it 7 times over 3 days), I'm now starting my search again for the awesome soundtrack. I'm a bit miffed that the tracks are out of order, but it's no big deal. If you love Frampton's guitar work, the BeeGee's vocals, and a cheesy film from '78 to boot, then by all means, get it. For those haters that don't like disco-fied Beatles covers, well, all I can say to them is pfft (oh, and not buy it if they're going to just fuss and cuss about how it's not 'right').

Free Music Review: Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band
Hit: 5 Stars

I was going through one of the bargain bins at a local discount store, and found a sealed brand new copy of this movie. it was such a long time ago when i went and saw this movie at the movie theatre. i really didn't remember much about the movie. i guess that's how bad it was? or was it? this movie does have it's campy moments, but for the most part, the music is well performed and arranged. it is kind of sad to watch with the recent passing or maurice gibb of the Bee Gees and watching him perform along with Barry and Robin Gibb. Good or bad, this was and will always be part of a period in my life that i could never go back to. enjoy it as a light hearted fun film. after all it is just good music, and fun, isn't it?

Free Music Review: Beatles Covers
Hit: 5 Stars

(Written by Karen T. Fahel) I enjoyed the movie, but I acknowledge that not a lot of people do. However, the soundtrack is fun to listen to. The entire album is made up of Beatles covers done by the cast. Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees make up a large percentage of the songs, but the rest of the cast have theirs, too.

While some are not exactly great (George Burns "Fixing a Hole" and the people playing Mr. & Mrs. Fields doing "She's Leaving Home") quite a few are wonderful. Billy Preston totally grooves with "Get Back", Alice Cooper adds his distinctive touch to "Because", and the highlight is the spectacular, totally rockin' "Come Together" by Aerosmith.

Give it a listen; it's fun, at least.
