I'd be lying if I said Shakespeare in Love was the year's BEST movie, even if it more than deserved the Oscar nod. I'd also be lying if I said this soundtrack was bad (I'd be outta my mind to say that!) After I saw the movie, the music was the only thing I could think of. I bought the CD the next day. I loved the movie "Shakespeare in Love," and the soundtrack in one of my favorite CDs. The music is absolutely beautiful and perfectly reflects the bittersweet moments of the film. An excellent accompaniment to the movie: joyous, lyrical, sweeping, with a nice balance of theme music and incidental music. Stephen Warbeck's score for "Shakespeare in Love" swept me along with the same vibrant energy as the movie: throbbing cellos, dancing piccolos, violins by turns weeping and soaring. I've had this CD since I first saw the movie...I've seen it 6 times so far...I'm not normally a fan of classical music, but this just takes my breath away...I can listen to it and be transported to another world...now I usually like hardcore alternative music, but I love this...buy it no matter what kind of music you like.
