Free Music Review: Excellent
Hit: 4 Stars

I like this album because they're some wondeful songs. She is my best siger. She is better than Ashanti! Ashanti is nothing ! I really recommend itto buy this album.

Free Music Review: 3/5 stars...I could listen to it!
Hit: 3 Stars

I got this CD on my birthday...and I enjoyed it! I got a limited edition one, with bonus tracks, and a DVD of some of the Objection (Tango) videos, live, the making of it and the one she preformed on MTV. I really didn't watch the DVD; if you didn't like the music video (or didn't see it), then I recommend buying the regular CD. I could listen to all of the songs except the Spanish ones. :P I think her voice is a little too over styled though; and sometimes you can't tell what she's saying if she's speaking in English. It sounds like she's sometimes straining her voice or she's half asleep sometimes. The songs are all good, but I don't particularly like "A Peom To a Horse". Who would recite poetry in front of a pony? Ahh, strange. I like "Fool" the best. :P

Free Music Review: 2-1/2 stars -- I don't understand the hype
Hit: 2 Stars

In an interview back in 2001, Shakira said that she wouldn't feel right singing other people's songs, which is why she insists on writing her own lyrics. So she's to blame for the downfalls of this album.

First of all, Shakira's singing style has an acquired taste, and that paired with iffy lyrics make a bad combination. Sometimes the lyrics aren't creative at all. Take "Rules", where she tells her man: "Use your eyes only to look at me/Use your mouth only to kiss my lips". And although the way she sings "Objection (Tango)" sounds good, you just can't ignore the lyrics: "Every twenty seconds you repeat her name/But when it comes to me you don't care if I'm alive or dead."

The only songs that really stand out are "Whenever, Wherever" and her latest single "The One", and those lyrics aren't the best either. But they ARE better than the rest of the songs, which, in the words of "Poem To A Horse", sound like cheap metaphors. Let's have Shakira work on her lyrics more and then see how her next English album is.
