Free Music Review: Love Shakira!
Hit: 5 Stars

I think Shakira is absolutely amazing. She has a great voice and this album is timeless. You can just listen to it over and over again.

1. Estoy Aqui- 10/10- This is her biggest song from the album and it deserved to be big. It's extremely catchy and has a great chorus.

2. Antologia- 10/10- This song is really sad (although I don't understand the lyrics cuz I don't speak Spanish), but it has a really sad but amazing beat. Shakira sounds great on this one.

3. Un Poco de Amor- 10/10- I love the Caribbean dancehall feel to this one. It's a great highlight from the album.

4. Quiero- 10/10- I think this is one of my favorites from the album. It's very soft and has a very nice chorus.

5. Te Necesito- 10/10- This song is another one of my favorites off the album.

6. Vuelve- 10/10- The beat to this song is great. It reminds me of some of her later work from "Donde Estan los Ladrones?".

7. Te Espero Sentado- 10/10- It's very soft in the beginning, and later turns into a great acoustic rock pop song. It's in my top 3 favorites of "Pies Descalzos."

8. Pies Descalzos, Suenos Blancos- 10/10- I don't know the lyrics to the song, but it sounds really poetic whatever she's saying. Great song.

9. Pienso en Ti- 10/10- This song is my favorite. A lot of it is acapella sounding because the instruments in the song are very quiet. It sounds absolutely amazing.

10. Donde Estas Corazon- 10/10- This is a great and upbeat love song. It deserved to be a single from the album.

11. Se Quiere, Se Mata- 10/10- I love the anti-abortion message in this song. It kinds of like a folk song, because it tells a story. It's an odd way to end the album, but I still love the song.

This album is a masterpiece, like all her other albums. Shakira is different from anyone in the mainstream, and never blends in with any other artists. She's definitely my favorite singer of all time.

My top 3 favorites are:
1. Pienso en Ti
2. Te Espero Sentada
3. Te Necesito

Luv u Shaki!

Free Music Review: amaziing and moving for its time andnow
Hit: 5 Stars

I think "ladrones" was probably shakira's last good album before she fell off to being a sellout and joined the mainstream cult. This album is at a time when she was hungry and gave us a glimpse of her inner soul, what great musicians do. She was a musician at this point in her career- now a mere pop performer. This goes well for Alanis fans, but as a sentimental guy who loves folk and rock I immediately fell in love with this album. But let's face it, great soulful music doesn't necessarily sell. But man does she jam and sing on the guitar. And her voice is majestical- yes! I love all the tracks on this album and still listen to it to this day. I also suggest laura pausini who goes above and beyond soul music. Her voice is amazing as well and she can hit those notes. Shakira, now that u have millions can u at least make an album for your old true fans? te lo doy la gracia - ahora ponte las pilas.

Free Music Review: Growing up "Barefoot"
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of my fave records of all time...and I'm not even a Shakira fan! I came of age when Pies Descalzos exploded and it was like Shakira had taken my diary and poured all my thoughts and feelings into these songs. Shakira and I are about the same age,so she was around 16-17 when this record came out... I had my first love and my first heartbreak set to "Antologia", danced to "Estoy aqui" the first time I sneaked into a club, sang "Donde Estas corazon" at the top of my lungs with my gf's as we cruised the town when I "borrowed" my parents car(we thought we were sooo cool), and felt giddy with "Te espero sentada". One big chunk of the soundtrack of my life went with this record. I wish Shakira would make as heartfelt music as she did in Pies Descalzos...even with all the smoke and mirrors of her latter material, she still hasn't been able to duplicate the simple sincerity of this record.

Free Music Review: Her best album to date...believe it or not

If you are expecting songs like the way-too-Estefan-ized tracks from Laundry Service and Fijacion Oral, look elsewhere. This album is not really Shakira's debut, but it is the album that launched her to superstardom, and for a good reason: it has good songs. Most are romantic ballads with lyrics that somehow apply to everyone's relationships, but check out "Un Poco de Amor," a reggae-laced pleaser that will have you singing along. Then try "Quiero," a masterpiece of simple elements that progresses to a fast-paced chant. Of course you'll like the singles too: "Antologia," "Pies Descalzos," "Donde Estas Corazon," and "Estoy Aqui." This is pure Shakira, before she sold her soul and greñas to the US market for a bleach job and a Cristina Aguilera-style wardrobe.

Free Music Review: Buenisimo!

This was Shakira in her pure rock best long before she got commercial. This along with Donde Estan Las Ladrones were her best work. Listening to Estoy Aqui you can hear snippets from other rock classics as her later American hit Underneath Your Clothes seemed to take its beat from Aerosmith's Dream On. Shakira is Baranquillera, from the same city as my family. She studied guitar with the same woman who gave my son piano lessons (taping his fingers to keep them straight). Shakira rebelled against the bayanato classic sound of Colombia to mix Lebonese sound with classic American Rock and nowhere does she do it better than this disc. I hope one day she comes out with English Language version of these songs so American audiences can appreciate these brilliant songs!
