Free Music Review: Profoundly rhythmic and energetic

People who buy a drumming cd are probably expecting to have wonderful shamanic journeys by listening to it. Robert Moss and a host of other dream guides say it: Westerners seem to be particularly sensitive to the low, monotonous tones of native drums. I even remember listening to one such Shamanic teacher on coasttocoastam recently. When Noory played a short extract from his drumming cd on the waves, he advised truck drivers to turn off the volume lest sensitive individuals should fall in a cathartic state.Well, let me tell you that these claims are grossly overblown. I have been listening to this cd with Patrick Flanagan's Neurophone on and nothing special happened: no wild shamanic journeys in the astral realm, not even the beginning of a shadow of an OBE! So don't expect too much from such music. Remember that originally drums were played during hour-long night sessions in which drugs and other devices were used in order to bring about a trance. Without this traditional, tribal background and support, I really doubt that drums can have any effect on ordinary Westerners.
Having said that, this is still a wonderful cd. The quick rythms are simple but immensely powerful. Energy will pour through your ears and you will feel refreshed after each session.
Besides, if you can listen to this kind of music and are not put off by its monotony, you will experience something strange: although this is not the kind of slow hypnotic New Age music many people use for relaxation, the hard beating drums will help you to relax very effectively and drive all thoughts from your mind.
Of course relaxation is supposed to be the first stage in any shamanic journey. So, who knows? maybe you and I will one day be able to fly to the enchanted realms of the gods with this cd...
Free Music Review: Excellent drumming music for Shamanic Journeying

This is the best CD I have found so far for doing shamanic journeying to recorded drumming. There are just 3 tracks - inviting the spirits, the journey drumming, and a call back at the end. I loaded it onto my iPod and it works very well for me.
I found the sound quality to be excellent, crisp and clear, and the energy in the sound to be amazing. It really "does the job" and provides the horse to ride for the journey. A friend of mine had an incredible first journey just from using this recording. I also use it as a background when I am doing my own drumming, to assist and provide me with a "backup group."
Note: this is not a "musical" CD, and not just for listening to!

This is an interesting review to write - this CD does exactly what it says on the title, which is to induce a deep trance by the use of a single rhythm drum pattern, for shamanic journeys.
However, if you are looking for interesting ethnic drum beats or examples of native American drums, you won't find them here, because the entire CD, apart from two tracks at the beginning and the end which are each less than 2 minute in length, is one single drum pattern of four beats per second which repeats for nearly an hour.
If you want a shamanic trance, this product will deliver; but don't buy this if you want to be entertained!

This cd didn't exactly shock me into being amazed at it's greatness; however, it isn't a bad cd and it does the trick for entering into trance.it would be nice if you could set it for different length journeys though.

If the product had arrived - I could review it: Shamanic Journey Drumming: Spirit Passages. I have looked around for a place within amazon.com to communicate the CD's non-arrival but couldn't find any area so am using this cubby-hole. It has a great cover design!
