Free Music Review: Shane still has it!
Hit: 5 Stars

Being a Pogues fan since 1984 and having had the pleasure of seeing them over 20 times, this collection gives a great mix of pogues and post Pogues Shane material. The recording is great, the selection is even better. Shane's voice sounds strong and forceful, a great additon to any Irish/Celtic/Pogue fans collection.

Free Music Review: Stick another record in the record machine....
Hit: 5 Stars

I've had this for years, but never wrote a review. This is simply, one of the best cd's ever made. Shane at his best (or worst), the Popes kick things up a notch (RIP Tom Mc), Fairytale of NY with his Mum, and my two favorites, Mother Mo Chroi and the rollicking Irish Rover. Good Times!

Hello.

This is a very fine quality recording. I highly recommend it! 5 Stars!

Free Music Review: Not what I was hoping for... but not bad!
Hit: 4 Stars

I've been waiting quite a while for a new Shane MacGowan release, so I pre-ordered this album sight or description unseen hoping it would be a long awaited new studio album -- but it turned out to be a live recording from 2001. It wasn't quite what I was hoping for, but I have to say I'm not disappointed.

I've seen Shane and the Popes live at least five times, and I can say without fear of contradiction that on "Across the Broad Atlantic" he has seldom sounded so coherent! Great sound clarity, good performances by Shane and the band, great set list.
MacGowan still has that whiskey-soaked tooth-spitting growl that we all adore, God bless him.

Until that new studio album comes along (now they're saying Summer 2002), you could do worse than to bide your time with this latest offering.

Free Music Review: Good evening miene kinder!
Hit: 4 Stars

Great live album from Shane, full of energy and excitement. His delivery is great, and the Popes rock!(check out their instrumental). This album BLOWS AWAY 'Streams of Whiskey', other reviewers complaining about Shane's performance obviously haven't heard 'Streams'(Shane starts singing one tune and the Pogues are playing an entirely different song! as well as forgotten lyrics, ect.) The sound quality is great, but the crowd has been EQ'ed out to such an extent that they can hardly be heard (sounds like a crowd of a dozen!) More crowd and more of Shane's solo stuff and this CD would have gotten 5 stars.
