Free Music Review: She is the BEST--not country, or pop, but all-around

As other reviewers have noted, Shania can not be categorized into just country or just pop. She blends the two together, in a style that is uniquely her own, making some of the best music ever created. Her love songs, such as "From This Moment", "You're Still the One", and "Forever and For Always", are already classics; as are her "fun" tunes, like "Man, I Feel Like a Woman, "Whose Bed Have your Boots been Under", and "That Don't Impress Me Much". Her new songs on this album (putting new songs on a greatest hits album is a little unconventional, also)are equally appealing. "Don't" is a haunting ballad, and perhaps her best song ever. "Party for Two" is a very catchy tune (especially the Billy Currington version) that pretty well seems to be about sex. And "Quitter" is one of the most "countrified" songs she's done. Furthermore, it should be noted that all the songs on this album (except "You Win My Love"--another sexy little song--which was written by her husband) were written by Shania. That may explain what one reviewer noted: that "her eponymous debut [album]is not represented at all"; because she only wrote one song on that album. But 'The Woman in Me', 'Come on Over', and 'Up!' are well represented here.Free Music Review: A Great...Greatest Hits Album.

I think Shania Twain is the only artist capable of putting out a successful and excellent Greatest Hits package after only 3 studio albums released, that from start to finish still "feels" like and worthey of being called a Greatest Hits album.
Shania has made so many excellent songs over the years that even her studio albums feel somewhat like a Greatest Hits album on their own.
If you are just getting into Shania then her Greatest Hits would be a good place to start obviously, but I would strongly recommend looking into her back catalogue too because although this album is a nice collection, there are still so many great songs which didn't make the final cut due to limitations, such as...

I have the copy of Cd, and all I could say this album is a must have to everyone, especially to Shania Fans. My all time favorite song of her is track number 1 "Forever and for Always." That song moved me a lot. What's amazing in all Shania's songs is that the lyrics were wonderfully made. Keep up the good work Shania. I'm very impressed and inspired. God Bless you. Hey, what's up?? Man, do I feel like a woman!!! I love this C-dee!!! I love Shania, too!! Her songs are so spiritful and full of joy and life...man, I feel like a woman!!! She has an udderly fantastik voise and she knows how to shake her groove thang!! Hah, hah. But seriously, when me and my girlfriendz hit the beach or the mall, we always bring along our burned copy of this Shania Twain Greatest Hitz C-dee...we love it!!
My only complaint is that Mutt messed up the Hq frequency on a few of the tracks; it would have been much better left at a lower-pitched treble. Also, I take issue with Lange's use of chorus overdubs that often drown out the bass and even overshadow Shania's voice on a few songs. Then again, with the drums so loud at almost all times, I guess that a lack of bass sound can be forgiven, despite the lack of an authentic swing. The mixing job on some of the early stuff is adequate at best, but that's okay. Mutt Lange is a wizard at the control board, and his expertise definitely shows on Twain's later work.

Hit: 5 Stars I grew up on old country music. I'm a big fan of Loretta Lynn and Tanya Tucker. I hate to see country crossing over to the pop side of things and it's refreshing to see a greatest hits collection from someone who is true to her country music roots. The music of Shania Twain takes me back to the times my uncle would take me to the grand ole opry to see real country. Now you've got posers like Gretchen Wilson who aren't old school like Shania and Faith Hill.
You want memories? My buddy .47 cent and I used to cruise Omaha in my renault alliance playing tunes like "The Auctioneer", "Ring of Fire" and "Dude looks like a lady". We were totally country. I spraypainted the words, "Cowboy UP!!" on both doors of my car and had a gun rack mounted on my back window. I had two muskets on it in case trouble arose. .47 and I would compete in rodeos like Lane Frost. We didn't have big bulls where I grew up so we rode bucking donkeys. If you stayed on for a half hour, you won. So many great memories and nothing brings it back like REAL country music.
