Free Music Notes for Shania Twain - Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: For once a Greatest Hits album worth having
Hit: 5 Stars

I normally don't buy greatest hits albums from artists that I already own the albums for but I had to make an exception in this case. 20 different songs (there are 2 versions of Party For Two making the complete 21 song cd) is what I'd call a complete cd. Normally artists take their 10-12 biggest songs plus one new song and call it a greatest hits album. Amazingly enough a year or so later they put out a second greatest hits album that you have to pay another $15 for to have the complete hits collection. You have to respect Shania for giving us, the fans, a great value for our money. I would recommend this album to anyone interested in getting a Shania cd as every song is a gem. For those curious, both of the version of Party For Two are great. I won't try to describe them as I'll trip over myself. Whether or not you have all of Shania's albums or not, pick this one up as either way, you get what you pay for: all of her best songs in one place.

Free Music Review: What?! No "She's Not Just A Pretty Face"? Why, Shania, why??!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Ok, it's another 5-star release...what else could it be? You've got all her albums already? Why buy a Greatest Hits? Not sure why. Maybe for the previously-unreleased tracks (Party For Two, both versions)? That's enough right there, but you get all those other wonderful songs, too.

She's just got a beautiful voice that sounds great in any song, from the slow, reflective ballads to the catchy, poppy, upbeat songs. It doesn't matter, she's just great to listen to.

I particularly like the mix of songs she does. Don't Be Stupid has got to be one of my favorites, tied up there with No One Needs to Know and She's Not Just a Pretty Face (why wasn't it included?!). Rhythmic riverdance to country ballads, and pop-rock: they're not my usual fare, but I can't deny she has appeal.

Of course, my Greatest Hits CD would have about, what, 60 songs on it? How many has she released?

Keep 'em coming!!!

Free Music Review: Perfect cure for the Beltway Blues
Hit: 5 Stars

Shania Twain is one artist who has transcended the label of country music artist to attain more widespread popularity. As a fan of dance music, pop music and all other kinds of music I am anything but a fan of country - but I am a Shania Twain fan.
So, picking up this Greatest Hits collection was a no-brainer. Equipped with a new CD player in my car, my 40-minute-plus work commute has been transformed from frustration searching through DC's radio stations to toe tapping, singing-along fun and more often than not it's Shania's greatest hits that are blasting out of my cars speakers.
From "Forever and For Always" through "Up!" to "That Don't Impress Me Much" the compilation does a good job of mixing up her different styles. And whereas a number of even greatest hits CDs have me hitting the "Skip" button to go onto the next track, this is not an issue with this CD.
Well recommended as a cure for those Beltway Blues.

Free Music Review: The very best and beyond
Hit: 5 Stars

Shania Twain debuted on the country music scene in 1993,but there are no tracks from her debut album on this one. Let's give the credit to her husband, producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange for keeping his wife's career strong. FROM THIS MOMENT ON from 1997's COME ON OVER does not have Bryan White joining her as he did with her on that Grammy winner. It's basically the same recording but minus White's vocals. Also there's THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH,also from COO,but in dance form, ideal for nightclub play. Other COO tracks are the ass-kicking MAN! I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN!,YOU'RE STILL THE ONE,HONEY I'M HOME and DON'T BE STUPID. From 2002's UP!,is the title track,FOREVER AND FOR ALWAYS and I'M GONNA GETCHA GOOD. From 1995's THE WOMAN IN ME is YOU WIN MY LOVE which kicks ass. New tracks include DON'T,I AIN'T NO QUITTER which is rockabilly-flavored,and two "party" songs, one each with a different guest artist. The other tracks are great!

Free Music Review: Terrific album from Shania Twain
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Shania Twain's first "Greatest Hits" CD. Most, if not all, her greatest songs are compiled in this album, with nonstop listening pleasure-from the first song to the very last. It has a mixure of pop and country music, with the upbeat country version of the song "Up!" and the catchy pop version of the song "That Don't Impress Me Much." Her three newest songs are also on this CD, featuring both pop and country versions of the fun song "Party for Two," the dramatic "Don't!," and the tangy "I Ain't No Quitter." That song is very country-sounding, but is tolerable. Other than that, every song is a hit. This CD brings out the best in Shania's music from her "Woman in Me," "Come on Over," and "Up!" albums, including the songs "You Win My Love," "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" I really enjoy listening to this terrific CD. This album is a must have for any Shania fan.
