Free Music Notes for 100 Days, 100 NightsFree Music Review: Fabulous. Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of the best cd's I've purchased in years. Sharon Jones has this incredible voice- it sounds a bit weathered, like she's been there, done that. The band is really tight, and I'm not sure how long they've been playing together, but it sounds fantastic. They have an old school Motown/ funk thing going on, and all of the songs are really fun and energetic. I've been running my mouth off about this cd to my friends, so I figure I may as well do it on Amazon as well. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: True Soul Music! Hit: 5 Stars
I had no idea who these folks were when I saw them open for the Isley Bros. in NYC. I was blown away by Miss Jones, she did a tribute to the late great James Brown, that was better than "any man" could do. That's just my opinion. So, when I saw her on the cover of this cd. I snatched it up immediately because she was unforgettable. After hearing from other reviewers I think I'm going to have to get their other cds. This is soul as it was, is and always should be, AMEN.
Free Music Review: Sharon Jones iand the Dap Kings are DA BOMB! Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings today. This CD is awesome! Every song is soulful and harkens back to the days of old school R&B. 100 Days, 100 Nights, Uncle, Humble Me and Something's Changed are foot-tappers. However, my favorite is her soulful, plaintive (if the two ideals can co-exist) "Answer Me" is just divine! I'm so proud of Ms. Jones for never giving up on her talent. She inspires me!
Free Music Review: THE REAL DEAL Hit: 5 Stars
I really hate all this retro this and throwback that.
THIS IS SOUL MUSIC, R and goddamned B !!!
RnB is not some idiot note bending over computer generated beeps and thuds. I dont care what MTV calls it.
Buy this today, and something tells me your Beyonce, Usher and Justine Timberlake
CD's will be in the trash tomorrow.
Free Music Review: YES!! Hit: 5 Stars
If you like old school soul with a new twist, you'll love this. Like old school Tina Turner with a 10-piece backing band. If you're a fan of Stax and Motown, this is what it would be like if those labels were making music classic soul music today. Band is tight and Sharon Jones is fantastic. A very good album.
