Free Music Review: A 'must have' compilation, but some song choices are questionable....

Of course, all his 'hits' are here, and that makes this a 'must have' CD for fans of Shaun Cassidy, since none of his albums are available on CD yet. However, where the lesser-known songs are concerned, I would have made different choices than Shaun did. "So Sad About Us" is OK, but not one of the better tracks from the Todd Rundgren-produced WASP album (which is BRILLIANT). I would have instead chosen the title track "WASP". It is simply fantastic- droll, ironic, and hysterically funny all at the same time & Shaun's totally UNHINGED performance is a revelation! I would also have preferred his cover of the David Bowie classic "Rebel, Rebel", another great off-the-rails performance and different enough from the Bowie version to make it his own.
"Do You Believe In Magic" is also not a song I would have chosen for this collection. I think that his cover of "Be My Baby" or even "Morning Girl" would have been stronger choices from his debut album.
I don't disagree with all of his choices, however. Shaun's version of "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" is officially my favorite version of this song now. It simply blows Great White's version out of the water (makes it sound like a piece of overproduced junk, quite frankly), and I prefer it over Ian Hunter's original recording as well. "Cool Fire" is also a great selection- one of the best songs from the WASP album.
All in all, it's a great CD, but you'll want to seek out the vinyl versions of his full albums as well if you don't already have them. There just simply isn't enough on this CD to properly represent all of the great material on Shaun's LPs. Hopefully, all 5 of his studio albums will be released on CD some day- Shaun and his fans deserve nothing less! :-)

I bought all these songs (and still have all 7 albums) when they were new, but to have this collection is a dream come true! I remember when "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" was new (about ten years before 'Great you-know-who' made their screaming attempt") If you can get your hands on any of those rare 4th - 7th albums, they are a gold mine for his fans who can cope with him shedding his bubble gum image. This CD is great because it has a little taste of each album. As soon as Shaun makes HIS comeback, I'll be the first in line at the record store to buy a copy !!! I love this tape. I literally counted the days until it got to me. The memories it brought back to me, of my first crush on a rock star, were unbelievable. Took it to work with me, and we all had a ball dancing around to the songs from our teenage years. Thank you so much for carrying it, especially on cassette. I just couldn't bear to have it on CD. I had to get that 70's feeling, by not even listening to it in stereo, just the little cassette player on my desk. I love this tape!Free Music Review: A GREAT CD

This is probably the best $5.98 I have yet spent with Amazon.A great compilation CD from a young man who never quite made it over here in the UK with his music but is now much respected over here for his TV work.
Just a great shame that the lovely song "Midnight Sun" from his "Under Wraps" album was not included, and neither was "Heaven In Your Eyes" but there is plenty of material left over for a second or third volume I am sure.

I adored Shaun Cassidy from the time I was five years old! The first concert I ever went to was Shaun's and I slept in my Shaun Cassidy night shirt until it fell apart! I had every album he ever made! I am so excited to see this on CD since I no longer have a record player!Unfortunately the sound quality is low but it still makes me deliriously happy to listen to it!
No matter how much my boyfriend and my mom make fun of me for buying this, I am thrilled to have it!!!
