Free Music Notes for Live in SeattleFree Music Review: Love it Live Hit: 4 StarsOk this was the first cd I heard by him. This rocked me hard. LIke blue me away like standing outside in gail force winds. I could feel the emotions of his songs. He layed it all out and it was beautiful.
I got to see him live in a really small venue about 30 people total, less than that it you didn't count friends and family of the band. He had the same energy for the few of us.
I would have to say he is like a christian damien rice, not so much the sound of his voice but the feel. The melloncholy acoustic. But that is a good thing. Since getting this album, I have gotten the rest.
"Open me" is one of my fave, "take my hand" is also great.
Free Music Review: Amazing, wonderful, powerful... Hit: 5 StarsThis is just a superb, understated effort. I had first heard "Gravity" listening to a Christian radio station over the Internet and was immediately drawn to his style and lyrics.
Here's a guy who is soft-spoken and humble before God, and truly grateful for his salvation, given his background, which you can learn about on the CD and online. His thirst and hunger for the Lord--a true, unaffected faith--comes through in every song. If his voice doesn't drive right through you--it certainly does for me--the music and lyrics will.
I am more fond of unadulterated acoustic music rather than polished studio mixes. This CD has it. Make no mistake though--the sound and music quality is excellent with two voices (Shawn and a female vocalist) and a cellist who adds just the right touching quality to the music.
It may sound strange but when I started listening to this CD it really starting deeply ministering to me. As a man I almost hate to admit it, but I had a hard time not crying on a lot of these songs. I started seeing how deeply and passionately someone not just wants but deep in our souls needs to know and love their Creator--it's simple and basic and fundamental to a Christian's walk, but we often miss it in the hum and buzz of our daily lives.
That said--all in all this is an excellent, warm, and beautiful effort from a superb musician I think we'll be hearing a lot from in the coming years.
Free Music Review: Inspiring and Entertaining Hit: 4 StarsLive In Seattle is an energetic and enjoyable live album by Shawn McDonald. It is my first Shawn McDonald CD and I am not disappointed. His sound is very good and his lyrics are superb. He does a great job of sharing the message of Jesus in song.
The lyrics talk about needing God, surrendering to God, and praise. He is not afraid to mention the name of Jesus. His songs are both meaningful and catchy. I particularly like 'Gravity'. He also does a remake of Judy Garland's 'Over The Rainbow'.
Shawn is an up and coming artist who will both inspire and entertain. I recommend it.
Free Music Review: Too much live music Hit: 4 StarsBased on the sample music from Amazon of this CD, one would think it is recorded in a studio. But it's a live performance and I didn't know this. I would have bought his other CD had I known this.
Free Music Review: Shawn McDonald Fan Hit: 5 StarsI heard Shawn McDonald on a DVD I had Wow hits 2006 and I really like it and wanted the entire album
