My taste in music ranges from the Blues to Southern and Classic Rock, to mellow Rock. I would place Shawn in the category of David Gray except add the great sounding acoustic guitar. Each song has a terrific style and sound. "Beautiful Wreck" caused me to check out this CD. "All Fall Down" is also great, but so are all of the others. Great rendition of "Rising Sun". It builds slowly and then rocks out. This is an understated impressive compilation. Check out the samples, but they don't do him justice.Free Music Review: Off the beaten track, but still a winner

I have long been a fan of Shawn Mullins and 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor only strengthens my opinion that Shawn is one of the most underrated musicians out there. This CD is all over the map with very few of the songs sounding the same. If you are expecting all of the songs to sound like the top 40 "Beautiful Wreck", you will be disappointed. If you are just expecting good quality heartfelt songs, you'll think you hit the music lottery! Shawn is a great storyteller (undoubtedly some about himself), and this CD is no different ranging from love songs (Blue as You, Find Love, Start Again) to bitter revenge (Cold Black Heart) to general (Alaska Blues, Homemade Wine). Even a nice cover of House of the Rising Sun which is one Shawn has done quite often in past live shows. This is not a CD you will pick up and love right away, but please give it a chance...listen to it more than once and you wont be able to get it out of your head...this is great stuff!Free Music Review: youve done it again Shawn!

Im a long time fan and your music I never tire of..I hightly recomend this CD as well as all the others! What he can do with that voice from deep to high in alomst a single note..
