Well I heard some samples of the songs and I thought: well, sounds good. I'll buy it. But when you hear the complete cd you realise that Dusty Springfield was an incredible good singer and still the best. She had it all: different styles, unique voice, soul and pop. My advise: buy a good compilation of songs of D.S.
Shelby Lynne is a good singer & the record is allright, but I prefer the real thing.

I'm not a big CM fan but I am a Shelby Lynne "user". This one has made me an addict! The title track is the best argument for being late to work, ever. Shelby's voice is of a woman who has lived and loved and hurt and pushed it all into her heart and art to make one perfect little CD for soul craving souls. This CD is a carefully crafted presentation of the soulful music of the English singer, Dusty Springfield. Shelby Lynn's unmannered singing style is perfectly suited to the material and the entire production hangs together beautifully. She combines the deceptively artless vocalization style of Shawn Colvin with the perfectly timed phrasing and depth of feeling of K.D. Lang. For fans of Dusty Springfield or anyone who loves this laid back style I would suggest this CD for your collection.
