Free Music Notes for The Globe Sessions

Free Music Review: every song is a good one/sheryl's BEST work
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is VERY VERY VERY excellent one.If you are a fan of sheryl, you know what i am saying, right? From MY FAV.MISTAKE to NRIGHBORHOOD,from RIVERWIDE to CRASH AND BURN,every track is so good that you cannot dely.I think it is better than her new album C'MON C'MON,especially the lyrics.

Free Music Review: Some Excellent Songs, some Uninspired Songs
Hit: 3 Stars

(3 1/2 stars) This album is not quite as good as I expected. It has some of her best material like "My Favorite Mistake" (in my opinion the best song she's ever done), "The Difficult Kind", and "Anything but Down" but also has some dull material like "It Don't Hurt" and "Maybe that's Something". There's also the horrible Bob Dylan song "Mississippi" (the [...]reviewer's favorite song). Some of the slow songs just seem kind of whiney and dont't really go anywhere.

There is also some brilliant material on this CD. Sheryl has a knack on this album at writing haunting melodies and guitar parts straight out of early 70's classic rock. "My Favorite Mistake" is brilliant stripped down bluesy rock, as is "Anything but Down". "Members Only" is the most fun song on the album (featured in the opening to the movie "Shallow Hal"). "The Difficult Kind" is the best slow song on the album. The cover of "Sweet Child O Mine" is mediocre.

All in all, this album has some very good highpoints but the songwriting is too inconsistent to give it a better rating.

Free Music Review: ...what were they listening to?
Hit: 4 Stars

...This album is fun, catchy and entertaining. It isn't meant to be anything but that. I'll admit there are a few weak songs on the album but hello? I liked Tuesday Night Music Club also but it wasn't exactly the most profound thing either (the NA-NA song comes to mind). If you are looking for a strong performer then Crow delivers on all counts. If you are a fan of her work, trust your instinct and get this album.

Free Music Review: Fails to Live Up to a Promising Start
Hit: 3 Stars

When you start listening to "The Globe Sessions," the feeling is almost exhilarating. "My Favorite Mistake" and "There Goes the Neighborhood" are, quite simply, two of Sheryl Crow's best recordings, demonstrating her ability to channel the Stones while still sounding like the-girl-next-door.

However, the album simply goes downhill from there. It's not that any of the songs are particularly bad. It's just that they all have the same guitar-strumming, pouring-out-my-heart, singer-songwriter feel with a slight rock edge. After the first two tracks, nothing else stands out, and the album becomes very tedious by the end.

If Sheryl had the guts to slash this material down to about 35 minutes, she might have had a great album. As it is, however, it's just too much of the same thing.

Free Music Review: My God...
Hit: 5 Stars

My God, I don't know what is wrong with these other reviewers.. this album is just as great as the others.. She continues to evolve and change and grow... change is good, Sheryl Rocks and her writing is magnificent.. why else would she be in the company of the Stones, Eric Clapton, blah blah blah...
