Free Music Notes for The Very Best of Sheryl CrowFree Music Review: More music than just the Tuesday night music club Hit: 5 StarsI was very impressed with this 'very best of' compilation by Sheryl Crow. Smartly it hasn't been branded 'Greatest Hits' as Crow has many more years to show us her lyrical style and musicianship. This collection was appropriately led off by the hit "All I Wanna Do" that took listeners by surprise. This song is still in high rotation after its debut in 1993. Her presence was established and today she stands as a forefront in women's history in rock and roll.
The songs selected for this album do Crow justice in displaying her talent for turning a lyric and making a tune her own. "Everyday is a Winding Road" is an anthem not quickly forgotten while "Strong Enough" plumbs the depths of her emotions through song. The album wraps up with the ballads of "Home" and "I Shall Believe". A rather different feel to the songs than the upbeat opener but classic nonetheless.
So if you are gearing for a road trip and want some cool cruising songs from this songstress, definitely pick up this album. Overall the album has good flow and there aren't too many fast songs followed by a bunch of slow songs and vice versa. Great compilation and quite possibly the 'best of' to that point in her career.
Free Music Review: Truly the best of our beloved Sheryl Crow! Hit: 5 StarsThis complication of Sheryl's truly is her best! There's not one song on this cd that I don't like! I couldn't ask for anything better! I never get tired of it; I listen to it all the time and I've had this cd since it came out in 2003! I recommend this cd to anyone; trust me, you'll ? it!
Free Music Review: All her best on one CD Hit: 5 StarsSheryl Crow over the past 10 years has emerged as one of the best singer/songwriters on the planet.
Sheryl Crow has the rare talent of being able to rock your sox off and write lyrics that provoke you.
The Very best of Sheryl Crow is just that.
If you dont already have all of her CD's shame on you.
The list includes "All I wanna do" which is the song that launched her career. I has a very funky rythm to it.
Soak up the sun is next. To me this almost has the feel of an old Beach Boys tune. The song is very commercial and was a big hit for her.
Next is "My Favorite Mistake" which to me is one of her finest songs. It has alot of great guitar in it, a great rocker.
"The first cut is the deepeest" is a remake of the old Cat Stevens song. She plays it pretty much the way Rod Steward did it back in the 70's.
Everyday is a winding road and Leaving Las Vegas are on this CD. I have never cared for either song that much.
Strong Enough is next and is a very fine acoustic song. I listen to this one alot.
If it makes you Happy is next. To me this song has the flavor of 1960's Bob Dylan at its best. I love the way the song is written and to me this could be her finest song ever.
The Difficult Kind is next and the harmony is very good. This is also one of my favorite songs of hers.
Picture is next. She does this one with Kid Rock. It did very well on the charts. Steve McQueen is another great rocker.
A change will do you good and There goes the Neighborhood are also outstanding. If you dont have this in your collection, you need to get it.......enjoy
Free Music Review: I love Sheryl Crow so much...... Hit: 5 StarsSheryl Crow has a new album coming out in September that I cannot wait for!! Why, because due to this "greatest hits" collection, Sheryl Crow has proven to me that she is the most significant, thoughtful and talented artist of the last 20 years.
Prior this album, I knew liked Sheryl for a handful of her radio hits (Leaving Las Vegas, A Change Would Do You Good) and specifically loved the song Anything But Down from The Globe Sessions. Sadly, that song isn't on the greatest hits even though it was a Top 40 hit. I guess she left it off becasue, according an article I read, it is a song inspired by her now defunt relationship with actor Owen Wilson ("you don't bring me anything but down/it was so much easier before you became you). He didn't like it. And in retrospect, Sheryl felt bad so she nixed it from the greatest hits.
That said, the tracks she did include are amazing. Since buying the greatest hits, I have also ordered C'mon C'mon and The Globe Sessions (which is really trippy and alternative and country and all these amazing things.)
It's great becasue all of these songs make you think and feel. She does sing about drugs a lot though.
Free Music Review: This is the VERY BEST of Sheryl Hit: 5 StarsI got this for my birthday, and I love every single song. This is a great complication for every fan, and every person who just likes the songs "All I Wanna Do" and "Soak Up The Sun". My favorite songs? "Steve McQueen" and "Picture". There are great dance songs and some of the songs are decent for karaoke.
