It is so damn refreshing to hear a band that actually has talent that they put to use. I love it when bands aren't afraid to speak from the soul. I could not believe how good this album was when I bought it. The song that grabbed me was simple man, so I bought this album, and the entire album was freakin incredible, I was suprised. The lead singer has probably one of the best voices i have ever heard. I recommend this album to ANYONE! Buy it and you won't be dissappointed, every song is good. 1. "Fly From The Inside" (A). Absolutely perfect. But not the best.
2. "Left Out" (B+). Grows on you like a madman.
3. "Lost In The Crowd" (B-). The chorus is the only decent part.
4. "No More Love" (C). The verses are pretty good but the chorus is pathetic.
5. "Better Version" (B-). Filler, but a good one.
6. "Burning Bright" (A-). I prefer the remix, which is identicle to this except with more bass and dramatics, but this is easily one of the best of the CD.
7. "In Memory" (C+). Never caught on.
8. "All I Ever Wanted" (B). Nothing spectacular here but is good enough.
9. "Stranger Inside" (A-). Heres when the CD starts to pick up again.
10. "Lacerated" (B+). The bridge is one of the highlights of the album. The guitar is ruthless.
11. "Crying Out" (A+). This is even more perfect than Fly. Hands down the best song on here.
12. "45" (A). The chorus will be stuck in your head for days, maybe even weeks like me. About suicide.
13. "Simple Man" (A). The quintisential (sp?) acoustic song.

This is a great album. I had heard "45" on the radio a bunch of times and really liked it, but I was afraid of wasting money on another band with 1 or 2 good songs. Once I heard "Simple Man", and later "Burning Bright", I knew I had to buy this album. Coincedentally, I did take the time to read the reviews here at Amazon before I purchased(Great move by the way. I do this before every purchase now, and get a really good feel for the quality of the band and it's music based on all of the reviews that are posted).
I love this whole album. Every song is very well performed and recorded. These guys have tons of songwriting talent. The singer has one of the best voices I have ever heard. I get chills everytime I listen to "Simple Man" or the acoustic version of "45". The band is super tight, with strong riffs and great rhythm. When I put it in my CD player, it stays there for a week at a time. I have recommended this album to many of my friends, and as a true fan of all music, would recommend it to any of you out there whether you like hard rock music or not.

although some of the songs start to sound the same, this is a great cd. it's really emotional and talks alot about suicide and not being noticed. It kindof makes me wonder what the people in Shinedown went through, but it's good to hear music that doesn't only talk about sex. the lyrics, vocals and instrumentals are all really, really strong. And make sure you get the cd with bonus songs because 45 acoustic is one of the most amazing songs i've ever heard. Free Music Review: this band could go places
