I bought Shinedowns Us and Them before I bought Leave a Whisper because I liked a few songs from the CD. Although Us and Them is a decent CD, it cannot come close to the raw power of Leave a Whisper. It has become my favorite CD and the more I listen to it the more I like it. You won't be dissapointed if you purchace this CD.Free Music Review: Classic from Shinedown

For starters I meant to give this one 5 stars. The 4 man group from Jacksonville, FL, Shinedown, came correct with this album, this is about my 720th review and over 600 of them are rap album reviews but I do like some alternative music and this is one of the better albums I have heard. I don't have this version but I'd have liked to get the re-release of this with the remake of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man" and the 2 sonus tracks, but oh well. Back to the album, with 13 songs and 2 bounus tracks it's not the longest but it delivers. It has 2 classics, 3 ok songs, and the other 8 are good or real good songs, I'm not much of a fan of the acoustic song (although the original "45" is a great track)and I never heard track #14. For fans of alternative music I'd say this is a must have.

Free Music Review: GREAT ALBUM!!!

Leave in a Whisper is an awesome album by possibly one of the greatest bands of its era. The singer has an incredibly powerful voice and the music is unbelieveable. If I could only listen to five albums of my choice for the rest of my life this would definitly be one of them. Free Music Review: A Great Rock Filled Album

This is a great cd full of rock. At first when I skimed through it I feared that I woulnt care for it that much but I guess I was wrong. It really is a great album that really desearves much more attention. My personal favorite on this album is 'Fly From The Inside'. But there are others on this ablum that are just as good as well. What a amazing album. It's strange because when this album came out, I passed it over. I liked the singles, "Burning Bright," "Fly From the Inside," and "45." But it was only recently that I checked out the whole album, mostly because of the rave reviews on this page. And boy I'm glad I did. You might think that the album can't live up to the strength that the singles bring. The singles are all fantastic songs, I especially like the raw emotion of 45, but the rest of the album really delivers. Nothing on the album seems like filler, and while that may sound cliche, its true.
What I noticed immediatly and really appreciated about "Leave a Whisper," is that no song sounds like a retread of the previous song. Each song seems to really have a life of its own. Saying that this album is a masterpiece might again sound like a cliche because masterpiece is used alot. But with this cd I really have to agree that with the many people who say this album is one. This album is just powerful, the lyrics and the vocals just really make it someething special. It just really grabs you and never lets go. It's really hard to believe that this is a debut album. They sound very polished at this stage in their career.
Bottom line, this is a great album. I honestly can't find anything to complain about. Very strong effort from Shinedown.
If you like any of the singles or like Shinedown's second album, you will love this album. It's already become one of my favorite cds that I can see myself listening too years from now. Don't hesitate to purchase this album.
