Free Music Notes for Leave a WhisperFree Music Review: broken jewel case Hit: 4 Starsloved the the cd put very disappointed in the packing job that was done. The jewel case was smashed beyond use or recognition.
Free Music Review: Second time's the charm Hit: 4 StarsWhule flipping through radio stations, I happened to pause for the last few bars for Shinedown's "Fly from the Inside." Intrigued, I bought the CD, but my first listen did not impress me, and it was banished to my glove compartment. But the songs had curled into my subconcious, and I found myself digging the CD out a few weeks later. That was when I fell in love. The lead singer's deep, full voice carries clearly over the powerful guitars, combining with the instuments to convey emotions with a talent that simply is not on the radio today. Shinedown keeps a delicate balance, letting raw emotion through without resorting to indescriminate shrieking that other hard rock bands are so fond of. The last, heartbreaking song on the album, "45," catches me up every time I listen to it. No other singer could do it justice.
Free Music Review: DANGER Hit: 5 StarsThis CD will make you cry... if you want to cry, buy it. if you want your sanity, don't. Now your warning... DANGER DO NOT MIX Shinedown with Alcohol.... Trust me!
Free Music Review: Made for radio rock? What? Well no sh**... Hit: 5 StarsREGARDING OTHER REVIEWS: Why would you not want to make music for the radio? Isn't that one of the MANY things to do to become a successful rock band? And that is NOT what Shinedowns main focus is. And you'll easily figure that out when you see them live. Look at the music for example in the Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Buddy Holly era. Did they make music for the radio? Obviously that was the FIRST thing on their mind. Those mucic gods started it all for everyone out there that plays or listens to any type of music. It absolutly "Grinds My Gears" when people say any music "made for the radio" sucks. That means your bashing any wave of music that started all of the music we have today. I'll be honest I don't listen to the radio that much. I'll always have a cd going instead. If you hate bands that have music "only" for the radio, then don't bash them, and don't listen to the radio. I don't know how you heard of them in the first place. If it's "music just for the radio," then your listening to the radio when you shouldn't be, because everything is for the radio. Or better yet don't listen to any type of music at all. Cause any band, that makes any type of record, (you idiot) , will get air time on some radio station somewhere, sometime, no matter how bad they suck. Everyone should know that. Anyway....
ABOUT THE ALBUM: How can I say this to sum this up the best I can without sounding like everyone else...lets do it this way:
You SHOULD own this album by now.
Simple Man was not a terrible remake. They honor the man who wrote it, so people shouldn't bash it. The LYRICS make the song. Not who sings it.
You SHOULD OWN this album by now.
Hands down one of the best albums out there. One of my favorites. But that won't make you want to buy it.
Let me tell you this now. In life, sometimes all we can do is leave a whisper, and when I heard that live, and seen them live, they sent shivers down my spine. So does the whole album. Oh yeah, Shinedown, thank you, you've inspired me as an artist in many ways. Your words touched every part of my soul.
I'm not going to describe what the album is like. It's so powerful, you need to hear it. Lost in the Crowd is my favorite song. I bought Us & Them before hearing anything on the "made for radio music" radio. Because they are way beyond good.
YOU SHOULD OWN THIS WHOLE ALBUM BY NOW...
YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM RIGHT NOW, NOT READING THIS NEVER ENDING REVIEW.

Free Music Review: Not Bad Hit: 5 StarsShinedown is a band I know little about, but a friend lent me this album and I'm impressed. I'm not a big fan of any new bands, but I was surprised with this CD. All the songs are great, the guitar playing (by Jasin Todd) and the rhythm section (courtesy of bassist Brad Stewart and drummer Barry Kerch) is done nicely...But vocalist Brent Smith is the real star. This guy's got talent. Most singers are merely people who sing and can do it well. Then there's real vocalists like Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Geoff Tate. I don't know if you can rank Smith up there with those guys, but this guy is really really good. The track list is:
1. Fly from the Inside
2. Left Out
3. Lost in the Crowd
4. No More Love
5. Better Version
6. Burning Bright
7. In Memory
8. All I Ever Wanted
9. Stranger Inside
10. Lacerated
11. Crying Out
12. 45
The album opens strongly with "Fly from the Inside" with Smith proudly showing off his vocal strengths. "Left Out" has a good chorus, the rest of the song is good too however. "Lost in the Crowd" has interesting lyrics and rocks. "No More Love" is my favorite song on the album. "Better Version" has singer Smith sounding like Jonathan Davis from Korn, but has some great lyrics. "Burning Bright" is on the radio a lot and is so-so. "In Memory" is the weakest track on the album. "All I Ever Wanted" is very good. "Stranger Inside" is the third best song on the album. "Lacerated" is the 2nd. "Crying Out" has a fitting title. And finally "45" closes the album. "45" is on the radio a lot and it's easy to see why, it's got the best lyrics of all the songs and is a really good song anyway. There you have it. Hope this'll help you to decide if you want to check it out or not.
