I bought this cd because well I never heard any of there songs before until I downloaded one and I had to get the cd. The best songs on the cd are 45, Burning Bright, and Lost In the Crowd. To the author of the comment that it's a controversial song it's really not that controversial. It's explaining about his situation of what he has learned in his life and sometimes you have to face the bullet sometime even if it is hard to take. Not to go kill yourself. That's like saying that Good Charlotte's song Hold On and Blink 182's Adam's Songs are also for suicidal people which they aren't. It's message to keep living no matter how life gets. It's also stating in the song that no one really knows what he believes and what he wants to do in the situation that is presented to him.

at first listen to the album, i didn't think much of it. i had listened to it because my sister had it and she played me the radio songs. but i decided to give it another chance and i really loved it. the perfect rock sound. looking forward to a new releaseFree Music Review: Not A Christian Band

For those who think that this album or band might be christian, neither is not. Burning Bright is the only song that has extreme spriritual references. Christians are supposed to be a light in a dark world. This song is a pefect example of a Christian who simply will not let his/her light shine; or a Christian who has fallen from the light. The more Jesus' light shines through him/her the more he covers up the light(closes his eyes) When they don't let the light shine darkness consumes them. The Christian is then plagued by confusion, doubt, and indecision about his faith. He or she needs to get back to the source of light so he or she might walk a path that is straight and narrow.
Anyway, this is a good, clean cd. I would not recommend the song "45", I'm not sure of the authors lyrical intent but it sounds very disturbing. A person who is border line suicidal should totally stay away from this song. I would have given this cd 4 or 5 stars if it wansn't for this controversial song.
Just like to emphasize again that this is not a christian band or album. If you want a Christian alternatie please check pillar or kutless.

Shinedown has the type of sound and the amazing talent to be considered one of the greatest bands out there. Shinedown's debut Leave A Whisper is probably the best rock album of 2003 and with the re-release adding 3 accoustic tracks it has definitely proven to be one of the best debuts of all-time in my book. The standout tracks are Simple Man, *45, Burning Bright, Fly From The Inside..... just pick one they are all so great. Not only do these guys make astonishing music but they put on one hell of a live show.... Shinedown Rocks!
