Admittedly, I was not a fan of Showbread's "No, Sir, Nihilism is not Practical" album. I am not into the "spastic" screaming vocals, but I was still drawn to their music. Showbread is one of those bands that have an undeniable energy and talent, which is what drew me in to songs like "Mouth Like a Magazine," and "Matthias Replaces Judas," the latter being particularly impressive. However, in an act of daring Showbread has all but abandoned their screaming vocals, but lost none of their intensity, the result: a certified work of genius. Showbread shows with this album that they're not afraid to change, and that they can still churn out incredibly deep lyrics without having to scream them out. The vocals drip with emotion, and the overlaying themes and metaphors are carried out beautifully throughout the album, leading to their amazingly heartfelt final track "Age of Reptiles." DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS ALBUM! Age of Reptiles is simply that good.
