Free Music Notes for Colour the Small OneFree Music Review: Totally stole from legend Singer/songwriter Tori Amos. Hit: 3 StarsYou can hear in the track "Breathe Me" a total copy of Amos in mood, delay, whisper, piano, mix, etc. Tori is such a great artist that to blatantly copy her music from the mid to late 90's is like someone coming out with an album in the early 70's that sounds blatantly like the Beatles. It's flat out wrong and nobody should be doing it. When I first heard the track "Breathe Me" I truly believed it was Tori Amos. If you are going to copy someone at least make something good, and she admittedly did make a good track. This is the most blantant theft of a great sound since Creed stole from Pearl Jam years ago. The only problem is that Tori Amos is, I believe, the single most creative artist of the 90's next to Trent Reznor. To steal her sound is blasphemy and Sia should be avoided to discourage this kind of imitation of greatness. I advise you instead to pick up any of Tori Amos' live cd singles or try out To Venus and back to listen to where Sia stole her music from.
Free Music Review: Wow is right Hit: 4 StarsI will probably regret not giving this cd 5 stars. This is an intriguing cd. "Rewrite" starts off, an incredibly engaging song, with a smoldering yet hopeful "happy chorus," as one critic has described it. It has a laughing through tears quality, you don't know if she's just met a new love, walking out on the old one, or if the song is about the creative process, with literal "rewrites," and the lyrics are somewhat cryptic. Other highlights are "The Bully," "Moon," "Sunday." I don't know who to compare her to; totally original, incorporeal, melodic Euro-pop (although she is from Australia), but fans of Tori Amos and Charlotte Martin should like.
Free Music Review: Wow! Hit: 5 StarsThis is a great CD. I almost bought the Six Feet Under CD featuring "Breathe Me" and am so glad I bought Sia's CD instead. My favorite tracks are: Sunday, Breathe Me, Moon, & Breathe Me (both remixes).
Free Music Review: I'm in love!!! Hit: 4 StarsBeing a fan of Zero 7 I thought her voice was the best of all of the guest vocals on their albums. I purchased this album solely on her voice. I have alwys thought her voice was so seductive but I didn't know how her music would sound, but was suprised at how well she has done. Looking at the liner notes this was a big production and it shows up in all her songs. I listened a couple of times and seem enjoy it more each time. There's a couple throw away songs that don't really go with the rest of the album, but that doesn't hurt it too much That's key to a good cd. If you are a fan of Zero 7 you will like this. The Ulrich Schnauss remix of Breath Me is wonderful.
Free Music Review: At last! Hit: 5 StarsOh wow, I had no idea it was ever going to be released in the States. I hope it does well. Go buy it everyone, it's quite beautiful.
