Free Music Notes for Hvarf/Heim

Free Music Review: Sigur Ros Hvarf/Heim
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is a delight. This band is so original and so unpredictable that their music is always a surprise, and Hvarf/Heim is no exception. On one disc are polished studio recordings of several of Sigur Ros' most requested songs, and on the other disc are rare live cuts rich with acoustic detail. I don't speak Icelandic, so the words are lost on me, but the music speaks for itself. Their extremely moving song "Von" (Hope) is on both discs so we get to hear it both live and produced. Both versions soar with emotion, as the music moves from bright to dark like a stormy sky. I'm glad I bought it.

Free Music Review: Gorgeous
Hit: 5 Stars

The music of Sigur R?s is almost indescribably beautiful and this CD brings out some live recordings that are truly gorgeous. I can't say enought about any Sigur R?s CD and this one is no exception. You get transported into another world with each listen.

Free Music Review: Great sound!!!
Hit: 4 Stars

If you like ethereal soundscapes this is a great CD. If you like to hear lyrics this is probably not for you. I personally like hearing the sound of Icelandic and Sigur Ros' own made up language (it's hard to tell which is which). Mixed with the atmospheric music, the songs are haunting and beautiful. The song Hlj?malind sounds almost like a "pop" song and is very catchy.

Free Music Review: Great new (old) CD
Hit: 5 Stars

Awesome CD, I had heard most of the songs in their original formats years ago - but that doesn't take anything away from this masterpiece. It would have been great to try and squeeze all the songs onto 1 CD but I guess that wasn't possible; it's a pain in the neck to keep getting up when listening to such relaxing music.
One of my favorite CDs of 2007

Free Music Review: waiting...
Hit: 5 Stars

As some reviewers have noted, this isn't a "mainstream" release, but a worthwhile addition to one's collection while waiting for a follow-up to Takk...

Why 5 stars? A lesser album by Sigur Ros is still better than the best from other bands. (IMO, anyway)

~ More details later, as I get to know the album better. :-)
