Free Music Notes for DioramaFree Music Review: Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
Silverchair has done it again, yet another amazing, creative album by these VERY talented young artists. I've pretty much worn out all of my Silverchair studio albums, which is all of them. But I still listen to their music daily. I can even play just about all their songs on Guitar, Drums, and Bass. That's really how much I study their music, once you know how to play, you'll really notice how creative it all is, especially in this album with the full orchestra. My favorite songs on this album would be "Luv Your Life" This song makes me happy even when I'm in the worst moods, great song. Next up is "Without You" Another song that has really creative guitar riffs, if you listen closely. "Tuna In The Brine" is one of Daniel's best written songs (lyrically) since "Emoticon Sickness" from 1999's "Neon Ballroom". If you're new to Silverchair, you'll love this CD, then later on get addicted, and move on to their previous studio releases. Fans of Silverchair, if you haven't got this album, what are you waiting for?! :) Members of Silverchair have also agreed on making another studio album, so watch for it in 2005 or eariler!
Free Music Review: The Wait is Finally Over Hit: 5 Stars
While Diorama has been available to Silverchair's home country of Australia since the beginning of April, this album has finally been released in the US, and if I had waited the four months to get it instead of importing it right away, it would have been well worth the wait. People who are hoping for a recreation of Silverchair's previous efforts might be disappointed, but that doesn't mean that Diorama isn't a spectacular album, just that it might pick up your spirits instead of keeping them down. Some of the standout tracks include "Across the Night," a song that exmplifies the more positive outlook of the album with much grandeur, "Tuna in the Brine," a song that, while seemingly was created by a person with a short attention span, transitions itself with a purpose in mind, and "After All These Years," Daniel Johns' retrospective of his former musical motives. Back to those of you who want for the Silverchair of old, "One Way Mule" and "The Lever" show that Silverchair has lost none of the power that they once had. All in all, this is a definitive masterpiece of musical talent, and I highly suggest that you obtain yourself a copy as soon as possible.
Free Music Review: Their best to date. Hit: 5 Stars
Ive loved this band since the first time i heard "Pure Massacre", and my love for them has only grown with each album. Frogstomp & Freakshow were amazing, pure guitar-driven rock albums. Their 3rd, Neon Ballroom, was (in my mind) leaps and bounds over anything they, or theyre peers were doing at the time. It was apparent they'de grown as musicians. On Diorama, however, theyve not only grown, but in many ways surpassed many of their peers. Where Neon Ballroom played around with ideas of the instrumentation found on this record, it is fully realized here, with over half the album featuring full orchestration. This is something other bands have tried before, but not near to this effect. From the sweeping "Across the Night" to the full on arena rock of "One Way Mule" to the somber and reflective "After All These Years", the albums title, Diorama, is truly fitting. This album is more proof that we here in the states really have forgotten how to rock. If you do not own this album yet, get it as soon as possible. Let us only hope that this is just the beginning of Silverchairs' musical progression.
Free Music Review: A Masterpiece! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is amazing. I could go into the musical technicalities that make this album great, but what makes it better than great is the way the songs make you feel.
The music takes you on a journey, from fast-paced raw emotion to an achingly vulnerable purity.
The lyrics are thought-provoking and interesting, not words you would normally hear a young man in his early 20's saying.
The vocals are unaffected and emotional, and the orchestrations make this album a masterpiece.
Daniel Johns brings a maturity and real sense of pain to his words, music and voice. That is what makes each song so amazing and so powerful.
I love "After All These Years". It's my favorite song on the album. It's so heartfelt I could cry every time I hear it. I count it as one of my favorite songs of all time, and definately one of the most beautiful.
"Tuna in the Brine" has so many layers and is rich and powerful.
I could go on and on. I love every song, and I can't wait for Silverchair's next album.
Everyone should experience this CD. It is a wonderful piece of work and I will treasure it always.
Free Music Review: I didn't believe it at first..... Hit: 5 Stars
After 3 average albums, the boys of silverchair have actually created a masterpiece. Actually, Daniel Johns created this. All the writing credit is given to him. ... But I really want people to buy this album. Why? Because it's ... good. silverchair is no where near my favourite band, but this album is ... going to be in my top 10 list of best albums of all time. It's done so incredibly well. There are so few bands that have 4th albums that can compare to this one. "Across the night" is a perfect opener. It brings the album into perspective. I won't go through the album track by track, because your opinion of it will be different than mine. I do have to mention, that "Tuna in the Brine", while qualifying for the worst name for a song EVER, is probably one of THE best songs ever. It's pure and amazing. The whole album flows well. There's no question that old silverchair fans will like it, but it's time for the general public (and the northern hemisphere) to get a taste of pure and great music. This album is beyond reccommended, if there ever was such a thing. At least give it a listen, what do you have to lose?
