Free Music Review: Pure passion!
Hit: 4 Stars

Silverchair are one of the more underrated bands of the mid to late 90's. With the boom of grunge music in the early 90's, many bands attempted to follow the same formula originally created by bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. By the time Silverchair surfaced, they seemed like just another grunge band, especially since frontman Daniel Johns sounded eerily similar to Eddie Vedder in thir debut single Tomorrow. However, Silverchair are way more than just another grunge band.

While other grunge bands of that era all talked the talk, Silverchair walked the walk. Their songs about depression and anger come from the heart, not from the head. Songs like Pure Massacre, Suicidal Dream, and Undecided demonstrate the pure passion that Daniel Johns has for his music. You never get the feeling that he is just going through the motions, but rather you feel that he is living the song.

Is the musicianship of this album going to blow you away? No. Is Daniel Johns going to break into a 3 minute Satriani-like solo? No. Are you going to hear technical drum beats that leave you gasping for air? No. What you will hear is raw, powerful guitar sections, backed by solid bass lines and satisfactory drum beats. What sets this album apart from others in the genre and what sets this band apart from others is the untamed, pure, believable passion that frontman Daniel Johns exhibits in each and every song. He is at the top of the list of songwriters of the grunge era.

As with any review, these are my opinions and I'm sure many people will disagree with them, but that's what makes these reviews so much fun. Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Frogstomp = Frog Prince!
Hit: 4 Stars

Ah... this album takes me back to the mid-90's. Grunge was at its height and the revolution was at full strength. People listened to music for all of the right reasons, and MTV was decent. These guys captured the angst of Pearl Jam and Nirvana and put it into a blender with a twinge of Soundgarden. It's almost the corporate Seattle Sound in one nice little package.

The guitar work is solid, the bass player is tactful with his licks, and the drummer... well, he's a drummer and this one's pretty solid. Their creation is really pretty fantastic and something that everyone should hear at least once.

If you're debating on which Silerchair album to pick up, I recommend this one. They got a little jaded as they aged and, in my humble opinion, their latest work isn't as good as their Freshman project.

Free Music Review: My Top 5
Hit: 5 Stars

As an avid music fan, this cd is in my top 5, which is rather hard to get into. This band is from Australia and has the perfect grunge/90's sound. The lyrics are powerful as well as sung with passion. The guitars and songs are heavy and clean at the same time. I love this cd and would have it if I could only pick one to listen to. It is a must have for any alternative/rock/indie/passionate music fan.

Free Music Review: Great
Hit: 5 Stars

Silverchair...another band from the 90's...one that should be remembered...These guys are awesome...If you took a calm Kurt Cobaind and a calm Eddie Vedder and mixed in just a tad of Billie Joe Armstrong you'd get oh whats his names vocals...Great giutar and bass work...This is their best album...Freakshows descent...but this one is worth the cheap...

Free Music Review: The reason I love music...
Hit: 5 Stars

Back in the day when MTV was actually worth watching and the music videos were rather intrigueing, I saw the music video for "Tomorrow" and I was blown away. The song was amazing and the video made a permanent imprint in my brain. Needless to say, I have been a huge Silverchair fan ever since. Frogstomp is the reason I love music as much as I do today. I truely believe it's one of the best "grunge" albums of the 90's. It's incredible, every song as good as the last. It's still in regular rotation in my cd player, and it will continue to be. The fact that they were all of 15 and 16 years old when they made this album is impressive in itself and should be reason enough to check it out. If you're a fan of Silverchair, you won't be disappointed.
