Free Music Review: OMG!!! This band TOTALLY ROCKS!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Thank God for Silvertide and Thank God for the Amazon "recommendations" list and music sampler, because without that, I may not have found out about this band...since I rarely listen to the radio anymore, choosing instead to listen to one of the more than 1000 CDs that I collected before REAL rock-n-roll was destroyed by all the crap that came out in the 90's.

Anyway, this CD was on my "recommended" list, so I hit the "Listen to all" button and gave it a try. It sounded pretty good, so I found a copy out on ebay and bought it. Let me tell you...The minute I put it in my CD player in my car, it totally blew me away!!! It instantly became one of my favorite CDs the first time I heard it! I've been listening to it nonstop ever since! And because it's so good, I fully intend to buy a new copy of it (import version this time-so as to get the bonus song)as well as the "American Excess" EP (since so many good things were said about the extra song that appears on that) from Amazon, so as to properly support this band!

Where did these guys come from??? They sound so classic, yet they're so young! It's hard to believe that amidst all of the apathetic "I hate the world" crap that's been coming out for the last decade, that this band has emerged with such a great sound in this current era! This is the return of REAL GOOD-TIME ROCK AND ROLL that we have all been waiting for!!! And all I can say is "I WANT MORE!"

In other reviews, they have been compared to The Black Crowes, AC/DC, Guns-N-Roses, Aerosmith, Zepplin, Tesla, George Lynch, Candlebox and Matchbox 20. Well, Aerosmith is a good comparison...and I definitely hear the Black Crowes influence, although for those of you who weren't big Black Crowe's fans, please don't let the comparison to them scare you away. While I thought the Black Crowes were a good band, they were never one of my favorites, as they were a little too bluesy for me. Silvertide has more of a classic rock feel to their music. I can hear Guns-N-Roses influence as well (Their musical influence that is...It should in no way be compared to the talentless vocals from the egocentric Axl Rose--Sorry to all you GNR fans out there, but even though their music was great, you have to admit that the vocals left MUCH to be desired--Silvertide's vocalist does what Axl Rose only wished he could do). Anyway, back to Silvertide...They also remind me very much of Lynch Mob and Junkyard.

I think the reason that Silvertide has been compared to so many bands is that there is a slightly different kind of influence that comes through on each one of their songs. While one may sound more like Aerosmith, another sounds more like GNR, etc...Each one sounds a little bit different from the rest. They make it really hard to choose a favorite. Honestly, while I like some better than others, I really do like them all. I listen to this CD straight through, from beginning to end, without skipping any of the songs, which is something that I rarely do.

You can tell by their music that these guys have some really deep musical roots, which most of the bands that came throughout the last decade obviously didn't have. Silvertide brings together aspects of the music from the 70's, the 80's and yes, even a little bit of the 90's to make one dynamic combination. As some of the others have said, I have not been this excited about a band in a very, very long time! Not since the Blonz released their self-titled CD back in 1990 (which was sadly at the time that REAL rock-n-roll was in decline, causing this band to not receive the credit they really deserved). For those of you who remember the Blonz, Silvertide has the same energetic feel to their music that the Blonz did. It's "feel good" rock!

All in all, this is just really GREAT straight-forward, good-time rock and roll that has a classic rock feel, with a slightly updated edge. I hope that these guys not only stay around for a really long time, giving us MORE of their great music, but also that they are an influence on the music industry in general so that we see more great bands like them in the future.
