When this CD set came out I couldn't wait to get my hot little hands on it. It was worth every penny, and the concert in Seattle was...well, I cried, okay? There. I said it. What a wonderful evening of memories and music! This was one show you wished would go on and on. Their music is timeless and speaks of a time when we were full of hope and innocence. I highly recommend this CD set to anyone who appreciates good music, perfect harmonies and incredible songwriting. Get this CD set... you won't be sorry. This is my first Simon & Garfunkel CD though I am somewhat familiar with their music. I've been enjoying this set for a few weeks now. My only complaint are the 8 live tracks included. I hate it when live tracks are included in a greatest hits collection. I'd much prefer the original versions. Aside from that minor complain, I'd highly recommend this set. i think it's their only 2 disc greatest hits set. That alone makes it a great purchase for new fans like me.As a bonus the booklet includes original recording and release dates, states the album the track is from and the tracks Billboard ranking.

This is one *weird* CD.First of all, do not believe the other reviewers here who tell you that, for the most part, you get the original versions of the S&G songs. For the MOST part what you get are NOT the original versions of the songs. You get a lot of live versions but, what is worse, you get a whole lot (perhaps 80%) of "new" versions of the classic songs.
This isn't a bad thing if you already own the S&G classics -- but if you own them, why in the heck do you want this CD? Yes, the sound quality is superb, but the two CDs here by and large sound like some sort of S&G "cover" band: a very good cover band, but nowhere near the original music.
This is not the first time someone has put together a "collection" of what is supposedly their greatest hits, but it's the first time I've ever heard one with such odd reorchestrations. "Cecilia" is done at half speed, "Baby Driver" with such over orchestration it goes from being cute to pretentious, "The Only Living Boy In New York" goes from intimate to overblown. And so on.
Anyone who grew up with S&G (or anyone who wants the best) needs to own "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme". These two essential S&G CDs will give you both nearly every song in this "essential" collection, but give them to you in their pristine, S&G classic sound versions. Then if you want to hear new versions of these classics by all means go ahead and buy this collection. But don't buy it thinking you're getting the essentials -- this, as Robin Williams once said, is not essence, it's pee-pee-ca-ca.

I can't believe the guy below who said they are "over-rated"... If only music today was 1/2 of the value these performers provide the audience. You can actually hear the lyrics, unlike so many bands today. By the way, my musical interests span from hard rock to country and jazz. I appreciate good music, and these guys were the best in concert, considering they are in their 60's now. Paul Simon even showed he has a sense of humor and they seemed to get along well during the show. I highly recommend this CD.Free Music Review: These guys still got it

The bad reviews from other people are merely because they don't appreciate this music. We don't bad mouth the music you listen to so keep your mouth shut. Anyways, this cd is amazing. Every song on it is incredible. I went to see these guys perform in Denver last night, and they still sound like they did twenty years ago. I definitely recommend this cd to any Simon and Garfunkel fans out there.
