Free Music Notes for Bach: Goldberg Variations

Free Music Review: Waem Blooded Bach
Hit: 5 Stars

This foray into Bach's monumental work for harpsichord The Goldberg Variations, is glorified on the modern concert grand. This is where Ms. Dinnerstein takes a beautiful tone and ample technique and walks the listener through what Bach surely was hearing. She does not try to manner the lines as though they were harkening to harpsichord performance practice.
This is an inspired read, not just another recording.
Brava

Free Music Review: A delightful surprise
Hit: 5 Stars

I am not a pianist. I cannot judge a piano playing the same way as a professional would. I just like to listen to the piano, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, the not so heavy stuff. But in comparison, I should say I don't like Bach. Not that I hated it, I just get bore after listening to it for a short while. But for this album? I just kept listening to it from the start to the end with interest. That is how good it is.

Free Music Review: Dinnerstein: Keyboard Dynamo
Hit: 5 Stars

This recording is amazing. I had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Dinnerstein live at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, MN. Her mastery of the keyboard is astounding and stage presence both precise and warm. I would recommend this recording to any music lover and especially to those who have interest in Bach. Could this be the next "definitive" rendition of the Goldberg Variations? Move over, Glenn Gould.

Free Music Review: farewell glen
Hit: 5 Stars

Simone Dinnerstein has recorded the ultimate goldberg. It's technical mastery, is infused with love and warmth (perhaps we can glimpse some Shubert shadings). I can only think that if Bach were living today, after all the music that came after him, he would choose Dinnerstein's version.
Let us hope that this artist records all of Bach's keyboard work.

Free Music Review: As good as Glenn Gould's
Hit: 5 Stars

Bach's Goldberg Variations is my favorite piece of music. I have listened to several different versions hundreds of times and never tire of it. Until now Glenn Gould's 1980s recording was by far my favorite but Simone Dinnerstein's is at least as enjoyable and will probably end up as my favorite.
