Free Music Notes for Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Free Music Review: Soundtrack shmoundtrack, THIS CD'S GREAT
Hit: 5 Stars

Paul Westerberg is not a Seattleite, but who can tell from this cd! Westerberg was put in charge of the music for Cameron Crowe's early 90's homage to 20 something love AND the Seattle music scene.

And what he came up with on this cd is the best snapshot EVER of a vibrant music scene! With the exception of himself (a Twin City alum) and Chicago's Smashing Pumpkins Westerberg has assembled the cream of early 90's Seattle rockers. These songs are arguably some of the best work ANY of these bands did. These songs were penned and performed at every one of these ensembles pinnacle!

If your a fan of ANY ONE of these bands you've got to own this cd!

My personal favorite, however, is Smashing Pumpkin's "Drown." I heard it 10 years (or so) ago on Chicago's WXRT. The song grabbed my ears and wouldn't let go! Drown is a cross between Brian Eno and Neil Young. Ethereal vocals to start, followed by 4 minutes of the most EXCITING feeed baaack you're ever gonna hear!

But all songs are outstanding! Again, if you like ANY of these bands, get this cd SOONER rather than later!!

Oh, and by the way, the MOVIE is also a must own! It's a great story with great stars AND Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam are the "backing band" to Matt Dillon's "Vedderesque" lead singer/songwriter character. And they actually do a great job as actors!

Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Best Movie Soundtrack?
Hit: 4 Stars

This could possibly be the best movie soundtrack ever. With multiple tracks from Chris Cornell and, Pearl Jam and, apperances from other artists like Alice In Chains and, Jimi Hendrix, How can you go wrong? Every SINGLES track is more than listenable.

Free Music Review: Possibly the greatest soundtrack ever......
Hit: 5 Stars

Well I am a huge fan of the late 80s early 90s Seattle scene. I love everything from Green River to Pearl Jam to Nirvana to Mudhoney to Love Battery on and on. Well this demonstrates perfectly the Seattle sound. It features two of my favorite Pearl Jam songs that weren't released. It has Mother Love Bone. It really shows the music as it was. I advise you to pick this up.

Free Music Review: Sip my Latte, Seattle
Hit: 3 Stars

The movie Singles epitomizes everything wrong with trendy elitist Seattle. If this movie had been set in Nebraska, it wouldn't have caught on. But since Seattle is the Heroin capital of the country, then it's the perfet place to feature a few go-nowhere-fast kids who unsure of their future and where their next kanoodle will come from.

There are more imporant movie in life to see than this. And there are certainly better soundtracks to buy.

Free Music Review: Still sets the bar
Hit: 5 Stars

This soundtrack speaks for itself. From what is easily my favorite era of music, comes the Singles soundtrack. Call it grunge, call it alternative, call it whatever you want. Two of the best Pearl Jam songs ever recorded (that aren't even on Lost Dogs) are on this disc. That is worth the price alone. Not to mention some Cornell, Pumpkins (the lengthy version you won't find on their greatest hits) and other greats from this fantastic movie (High Fidelity for the early 90's). Now I have to take a deep breath as I try to describe in words what Mother Love Bone's Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns does to me when I hear it. In fact, it isn't even worth trying. You have to listen for youself
