Free Music Review: A League Of Its Own

'Spellbound,' a song with a theme straight from 'The Exorcist' starts off slow and melodic for the verses before exploding into a fierce, intense chorus backed with a wicked tribal beat. 'Into The Light' is a slower paced dirge with another strong tribal beat and sprinkled with sparse synth effects. Lyrically ambivalent, I think it's a song about spiritual revelation or a near death experience. Nonetheless its very catchy. 'Arabian Knights'A song which mocks the romantic portrayal of Arabia again is extremely catchy, with a completely awe inspiring chorus that will stick in your head for. 'Haloween' is faster paced and punky in a highly danceable way. Just gotta love those guitar riffs that sounds like banshee wails. 'Monitor' a cynical song about the twisted ethics of reality telivision, makes a total mockery of the disco beat, creepy brooding music to dance to. 'Night Shift' is just utterly wonderful. Lyrically warped (I think it revolves around a woman's fascination with everything evil) it is a slow yet atmospheric dirge, intense and brooding, it sets a blueprint for all gothic music to come. 'Sin In My Heart' and 'Head Cut' by contrast are fast paced and punky. The lyrics to 'Head Cut' are completely warped, you have to question the band's sanity or morbid sense of humour. 'Voodoo Dolly' is a long weird distorted dirge about sado masochism I think.

You wouldn't think it would be possible, but for an album so scary and weird most of the songs are so damn catchy. 'Into The Light' 'Arabian Knighs' 'Haloween' and 'Sin In My Heart' in particular, will stick in your head for eons to come. In short no album sounds quite like this one. It is utterly unique and you have to hear it to believe it. I couldn't reccomend Juju more. its right up there on my top ten album list.
