Free Music Review: A not so forgotten group

I First heard this group in 1970 when I lived in Maryland. Then a few years later I went looking for their albums but Couldn't find them in the stores so I drove my new Levis Gremlin up to NYC in 1973 and looked for them. Bought them at Tower Records somewhere around broadway. Can't quite remember that far back.(Lucky to find them new.) I still got'em stored away in moth balls (so to speak). I made a few copies on cassette and listen to them when I want to get all charged up. (great motivational music!) But I have to say I do not see anything in their music that resembles Led Zep or black sabbath etc. WTF are people doing writing reviews like that. The band has a sound unlike any rock band I know of. Period. But that's my opinion only. They should have got another drummer and taught him the licks so John G. could front the vocals instead of being behind a drum set.
Personally I am a Deep Purple fan from way back. I think they were leaders of them all because they were so versatile. Was this band? Time never told us.
"Ain't got hung on you" on the first album totally moved me out of my chair all on it's own like magic. "Man from Manhattan" and "Where are we going" on the second album was my favorites. Even though it was really not a "live" recording. Strong vocals and solid bass lines with get up and move guitar licks made this band overall so unforgettable. The first album was blistering with screams and guitar twisting and turning until I just couldn't sit still, like being right there with them inside the mental/metal disturbed recording studio. The drums were beat with baseball bats I think and the vocals were shouting screams high pitching and long lasting, sounding retarded like he forgot the words and was faking them with stutters and stumbles. Funny to listen to the first time. The bass lines on a few of those songs sounded like Grand Funk railroads bass. Dig? I mean very pronounced hard thumping/hard driving type rhythm.
These dudes messed up not making fame and fortune but they can still be heard even if they are forgotten. It was worth the time and effort I put into finding their albums way back then in the christmas of '73. And I thank them for all the effort they put into the making the albums. And thanks be to Eddie Kramer for mixing it all up too. Because these dudes were not sounding all that great in person if you know what I mean. It takes a tough man to make a star sound good. Listen up Jimi Hendrix.
