Free Music Notes for Six Feet UnderFree Music Review: Great, eclectic album to go with a great series! Hit: 5 Stars
This album brings to mind the very eclectic work done around the album for the movie "High Fidelity." Beside the now-standard opening music, by Thomas Newman, the album contains excellent pieces from rock, chillout, prog, latin, and big band genres. Sounds odd? The truth is that it all blends very well, taking the listener on a casual jump over stones that all form part of the same musical stream. In particular, if you -like I am- are a follower of the series, you will find the album twice as enjoyable, with all the photos from the cast and some of their best quotes, and picturing the characters with the music, the best case being Cachaito's "Mis Dos Pequeñas" and the series' Federico. However, the album can perfectly stand alone by itself as an excellent compillation of great music. My favorite tracks: Lamb's "Heaven," Beta Band's "Squares," Zero 7's "Distractions" and the beautiful version of the classic from The Blue Nile (sung by their former leader, Paul Buchanan), "Let's go out tonight."
Free Music Review: Stunning Hit: 5 Stars
Being a big fan of the HBO series, I was interested in seeing how good (or otherwise) the soundtrack was. I bought this CD a week ago, and from the first listen I was completely sold. The soundtrack manages to sucessfully blend everything from rock to jazz, dance to pop and everything in between. All the songs here actually feel like they've been carefully chosen, rather than just flung on in order to cash in on the show's popularity. (Unlike a lot of other television or film soundtracks.) Highlights include Lamb's 'Heaven', Craig Armstrong's 'Let's Go Out Tonight', The Devlin's 'Waiting', Peggy Lee's 'I Love Being Here With You' and the Photek remix of Thomas Newman's haunting 'Six Feet Under Title Theme.' If you love music, I highly recommend this soundtack. This is a fantastic CD for SFU fans and non-fans alike. (But then, why would you be reading this if you weren't a fan? ;))
Free Music Review: If you're not 6'under,you can't do without Hit: 5 Stars
I originally ordered the sound track because, besides having become obsessive about watching the show, I was obsessed with the title tune. When I received the CD,I Was somewhat surprised to see that the last two, as shown on the CD cover, were remixes of the perfect theme. I was convinced that they corrupted the original -- I have come to appreciate Mr. Newman's different interpretations. They are a surprise and a delight. The rest of the CD has opened my ears to various artists I was not aware of, which I will be exploring in earnest. Check this out - what an electic blend, and don't pass it up. I found only one cut I did not like and it is easy to click the button to the next great song.
Free Music Review: BUY THIS CD NOW! Hit: 5 Stars
I am a huge fan of the show Six Feet Under, and the CD encompasses everything about the show. However, you need not be a fan of the show to enjoy the various kinds of music included in this collection. Many of the songs are haunting (Lamb- Heaven, The Dining Rooms- Pure and Easy and the show's theme) but there are old favorites as well (Peggy Lee). Thomas Newman is brilliant. If you liked the songs in American Beauty, you will love this as well. I bought the CD as soon as it hit the store, sight unseen, and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life. Do yourself a huge favor and buy it now!
Free Music Review: The BEST TV SOUNDTRACK out there.... Hit: 5 Stars
I have been hoping & praying that HBO would put this cd out and they did not fail me...from the great title theme to Lamb's HEAVEN, Peggy Lee's HERE WITH YOU, Seteo MC's DEEP DOWN & DIRTY, The Devlin's WAITING...this collection of songs from the series various episodes totally captures the different elements & characters of SFU...the bonus tracks are a great plus: Julie Loudon's beautiful YUMMY YUMMUY YUMMY and the SFU theme remixes add alot of fun, although I wished the remixers had used more dialogue from the show or used the characters quotes listed in the cd booklet...a must buy all the way!!!
