This CD has got everything ...O.K. Maybe not Hendricks style playing...but mostly it's got Jerry Douglas and his incredible astringent dobro. In my experience there's nothing Douglas has touched recently (including his sint as guest artist and producer) that isn't magic. The conbination of passion and mathematical precision is unbeatable. If you like vocals (not Douglas' -only his playing) try "Slide Rule" ... my top for the previous 2 years. If your friends "don't like country" ... taken 'em off your list. Skip, Hop and Wobble (1994) is just fantastic. Russ Barnenberg (acoustic guitar), Jerry Douglas (dobro) and Edgar Meyer (acoustic bass) have put together one of my all-time favorite bluegrass instrumental albums. Though each of the musicians on this disc are superb, Jerry Douglas shines on dobro! All the cuts are great, but my favorite is "From Ankara to Izmir". It has been too many years since the release of this disc, just wish there was a second, third, etc., versions of this talented trio getting together to pound out some excellent, moving bluegrass.Free Music Review: Talented musicians, wonderful new sounds

This is the second time I bought this CD. The dogs liked it too, thought it tasted great. The music is wonderful. I can listen to it for hours, either for pure entertainment and appreciation of each musical part, or for relaxing background music while doing other activities (such as finishing my master's thesis). If you like instrumental music with a bluegrass flavor but without the twanginess (my word), this is the perfect CD. This album defies catagorization! Shows what you can do with unlimited talent, energy, and chops. SHW changed the way that I listen, buy and appreciated music. Be warned, though. You will find yourself buying other albums by these amazing artists and their friends, immediately. This is my current all time favorite disc to listen to when it's the music I want to listen to. I don't do classical music, so this chamber trio is like a full orchestra to me. These are the best musicians on their instuments just playing great uncompromising excellent easy to listen to instrumentals. Goes great with coffee and Sunday mornings!
