Free Music Notes for FreedomFree Music Review: Good but not quite Jimi... Hit: 4 StarsThis band from the cold Scandanavian countries is a solid blues-rock band the lead guitar player a Huge Hendrix fan (so I like him already) can play a good guitar at times a great one. When they rock he does blaze but the problem is that sometimes it's just well, not blazing, good but bland. Now this is the only one I have heard so I cannot tell if this is just off or what. He has done a Hendrix tribute album that I will try next.
Free Music Review: Getting better and better Hit: 5 StarsAfter many years of producing excellent POWER TRIO musik, this might be SKY HIGH's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. They were always a well kept secret, but this sensational release should propel them into the spotlight. A much more powerful sound than on previous offerings ( curtesy producer JOE ROMAGNOLA's golden touch ) and some of the most powerful playing ever recorded by master YNGSTROM. Once you hear this, you'll need to get all their other releases. AWESOME talent and a musical honesty that is rare these days. CLAS feels everything that he plays and it shows. No guitar cd collection can be complete without some SKY HIGH. If you like BLUES / ROCK - POWER TRIOS - the GUITAR - buy it now, you'll be so glad you did.
For GUITAR musik, check out the GROOVEYARD RECORD COMPANY. Sublime guitar musik that you didn't know existed from brilliant players that will knock you for six.
Free Music Review: Outstanding TRIO work... Hit: 5 StarsGreat three-piece band with NO OVERDUBS; a blueprint for power-trio wannabes everywhere. Clas Yngstrom is the best guitar player most Americans never heard of, and a guy who does Jimi better than SRV. SRV could play all the notes but never really got the "feel" of Hendrix; Clas gets at least some of that feeling. Sky High's rendition of "All Along the Watchtower" is exquisite and faithful to Hendrix's version. I don't think Hendrix ever performed this tune live and I wouldn't have thought it was possible to do a really good version of this tune as a trio, but Clas and the boys proved me wrong. The arrangement is excellent and I think J would have loved it. Worth the price alone. The only sour note on this disc is the tribute-to-Jimi tune ("Jimi") which is almost unbearable for me to listen to. Otherwise, this thing is jam-packed with killer blues-rock, including GREAT guitar playing.
Free Music Review: Great bluesrock from Dalarna in Sweden! Hit: 5 StarsOn this CD, Sky High replays some of their best songs. This is bluesrock at its best. This power trio from Sweden, with the great Claes Yngstrom on guitars and vocals, backed up with the best rythme section I know, Osten and Arne "Mr Dynamite.
Simply great.
Free Music Review: sweet blues! Hit: 5 StarsI love this CD, I am not usually a fan of buying CDs, but I made an exception for this band. They have been around for a long time, its a wonder that I have never heard of them before. I cannot say enough about this CD, it embodies everything that makes blues great, the loud guitar and awesome rifs. But above all that you can really feel and hear the emotion Clas puts into his music especially on restless love, jimi, and blues for the green.
