Free Music Notes for Stick It to YaFree Music Review: Overall, A Great Album Hit: 5 Stars
Artist: Slaughter
Album: Stick It To Ya
Year:1990
Rating: 4-1/2 Stars
Review: Slaughter's 1990 debut album is packed with great songs, and is overall great. Slaughter's biggest hit "Fly To The Angels" appears on this album, and is one of slaughter's great truimphs. It was one of the huge Power Ballads that made hair metal what it is, and earned Slaughter, tons of fans from MTV and ultimately a Double Platinum album. "Up All Night" was also a massive hit on MTV and demonstrated Mark Slaughter's powerfull voice and high vocal range. The song also has a unique rythm, and combined with mark's amazing vocals and a perfectly melodic chorus, made it one of Slaughter's best. The Album is also loaded up with similar rockin' songs like "Eye To Eye", "Loaded Gun", "Burnin' Bridges" and "Thats Not Enough". Even some songs that didn't make Slaughter's Greatest Hits Album are quallity songs, like "Desperately", "Thats Not Enough" and "Gave Me Your Heart". Unfortunately, Stick It To Ya's counterpart, released later in 1990, Stick It Live, features the same songs, but sounds very bad. Mark singing sounds nasaly, and gives a very dissapointing performance. Also appearing on "Stick It To Ya" a slow 1 minute instrumental titled "Thinking Of June" is not so great, and the closing 1-minute song "Wingin' It" is nothing but vocals, and makes me worry about the band's mental health. Overall "Stick It To Ya" is a great successfull album, and is worth getting ahold of. [June 29, 2010] [From: [...]]
Free Music Review: always a slaughter fan Hit: 5 Stars
I recommend checking out some of Slaughters other stuff also. Their latest studio albulm BACK TO REALITY is excellent. Slaughter is a good time rock n roll band, and i see no reason for negative reviews. I do not understand why the band lost their popularity, because the quality of their music is higher than some of the 80's bands who still get attention. Maybe because they didnt take the low road to get that attention. They stayed true to themselves, their fans, and their music. The guys in slaughter are great they took the time to make me feel like the world on several occasions. I dont really know Jeff Blando, but Blas, Tim, Mark, and Dana are all wonderful to their fans, and i will always give them the credit they deserve as musicians and as people. I recommend all their albulms and the live show. I would love to see slaughter once again get the recognition they deserve, but either way i will always buy their material and merchandise and be in the front row everytime their in my city because slaughter kicks my a**
Free Music Review: Added material definitely adds to an already great album Hit: 5 Stars
STICK IT TO YA, the first album from band Slaughter, is a classic album for any rock listener. It is filled with songs that exude a good-time rock and roll feeling, while not compromising the intergrity of the music. This re-release of that album was a welcome addition to my music collection. The additional materials are demos of the original stuff and it is very interesting to hear how the songs matured from demo stage to release. I definitely recommend this album...even if you already have the original.
Free Music Review: Awesome 80s rock Hit: 5 Stars
I loved them 20 years ago and love them just as much still. Even better, my middle school aged son loves them. Remember when we ran screaming from our parent's hokey 60s music? Now they're stealing our CDs! Still looking for my Best of Skid Row...These are late 80s/early 90s rock classics, the three best tracks are Up All Night, Fly to the Angels, and Mad About You. No big hair rock collection is complete without this one.
Free Music Review: In your face, up beat rock Hit: 5 Stars
This album is completely upbeat and in your face. There are only 2 or 3 songs that I don't really listen to on the album. I bought this album thinking the band was a 2 hit wonder but I listen to the other songs on the album more than the big hit songs. This album is totally under-rated and completley worth purchasing even though I heard mark Slaughter has a huge ego and is completely a dick.
