Free Music Notes for SlipknotFree Music Review: Feakin Maggots running wild! Hit: 5 Stars
It's amazing how many kids hate Limp Bizkit in my school. Thank god for SlipKnot, now everykid likes SLipKnot now. ANd they're not sellouts either! Their image is awesome, Nine lunatics with masks, boiler suits, feel no pain, and scary as he! . Their music is even better, (Sic) is an awesome way to begin a cd that i didnt know much about. The Eyeless, which was awesome, and Wait and bLeed, the reason i bought the cd. Then SUrfacing, the best song on this CD. SPit it out, a catchy song is pretty cool. Then Tattered and Torn, i wasn't crazy about it, so i dont really listen to it much. Me Inside was an alright song. Liberate is awesome, and Prosthetics is creepy. Then the CD gets awesome, No Life and DIluted, and Only one explode right in your face, and Scissors is a cool way to end it publicly, and Eyore is a funny song for a hidden track. The reason the music is great is because each member is a master of their istruments, Corey, a singer, knows how to work the microphone. He can sing a low note or scream at the top of his lungs and still make thousands of fans mosh pit and headbang. Mick, is the guitarist, #7. He plays the awesome opening to Eyeless using freaky effects on a effects pedal, and plays most songs. He is a friggin' giant, and he wears a hockey mask and loves Serial Killers. Shawn, an odd Drummer, with a clown mask, plays titanium drums. He gives awesome percussion, like in Wait and bleed, and Prosthetics. He is also crazy too. He always fights with their DJ, and gets injured many times in Live shows. Craig, a sampler, wears a helmet drenched in nails. He is also a giant. He gives freaky sound effects for songs like Eyeless and Prosthetics, and Tattered and Torn. No one goes near him when he's headbanging. James, a guitarist, wears a jester mask with a zipper mouth. And has his hair showing out of the mask. He plays impressive "pumping" type guitar riffs that are lightning fast. Like in Sic, Wait and Bleed, and Surfacing are his most obvious works. Chris, a drummer who has a pinnochio mask, and admires Picaso. His drumming style is awesome, and he looks cool when he headbangs. He has a cool part in Wait and bLeed. Paul, a bassist, who wears a pig mask, is a master of Bass. He is quiet, and not a big part of concerts. But he plays cool riffs like in the beggining of SIC, and surfacing. Joey, a drummer, wears a white mask with black hair and red hi lights coming out of them. He is the lead drummer, and drums in all of the songs. he is short, and he dawns #1, because he is in charge of all the guitar and drum work. Sid, a DJ, wears a gas mask and isnt in a lot of songs, but you can hear him in Surfacing, and Eyeless. He hates Shawn. At a concert he jumped 30 feet into the crowd and injured a fan. Buy SLipKnot now!

Raw. Brutal. Ruthless. Those three words sum up SlipKnot's debut. KoRn meets Slayer is the sound, masks and numbers are the look, and with a dash of aggro-rap that makes you take notice. When I first heard of SlipKnot, I wasn't sure what to think. Masks? Can you say gimmick? Nine members? They better be good! Thankfully, they are. 'Nu-metal' bands are all the rage today, and someone has to take it to the extreme. KISS? Marilyn Manson? Not exactly. If you take the sound of KoRn with the speed of Slayer you'll get, a headache. But if you take nine great musicians and a great producer and put them in the mix, you got yourself an album! A great album, in fact, this is up in the amazing metal debuts category with KoRn, Slayer, Rage Against The Machine, Pantera, Tool and the Deftones. Let me say this, Ross Robinson is officially the best metal producer, ever. His talent helps forge SlipKnot's into what it is. Band wise they have a singer, a bassist, two guitarists, a drummer, two percussionists, a dj and a sampler/media player, whatever that is. Yup, they're getting a serious paycut. Now don't get me wrong, all nine musicians are great, but special attention must be paid to the drummer, Joey. This guy is awesome. He's so fast that you swear you're hearing a gun. Bullets everywhere, but no, it's just some guy in a mask playing his drums. Lots of good songs here, the best being "Spit It Out". It recalls the early rap/metal years: Anthrax. For the thirteen year olds, Anthrax INVENTED rap/metal, before RATM and way before Limp Bizkit. The thing is, Anthrax were too thrash in a hairband decade, so not too many people know of the underground legends. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're poseurs, Anthrax did it all. Anyways, "Spit It Out" sounds like Anthrax's "I'm The Man" on crack, a very high praise. Another good one is "Eyeless", check out Amazon's samples. Awesome stuff, huh? Unfortunately, the best songs are the first six, and the first song is only an intro. Of the rest of the songs, "Me Inside" stands out. That's not to say the rest are bad, they're just not as good. "(Sic)" and "Scissors" are really good as well. Lyrically, I have no idea what to make of it. 'You can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes'? Did I miss something here? Oh well, at least he name checks a great actor. Some of the other lyrics border on genius and stupidity, often in the same line. If you're under fifteen, these lyrics might seem awesome to you, anyone else might laugh, but who cares? Music is meant to be fun, and that's exactly what it is, lots of fun. In the end, you can't go wrong with this CD, but if you think KoRn is a bit too heavy, you would be well advised to steer clear.
Free Music Review: OMG just shut up already! Jesus! Hit: 5 Stars
I am sick and tired of all this bashing of Nu-Metal! What is so bad about
it? And who are you to say that its dead? I listened to this band since I was 12 years old (I am 19 now) and I never got sick of it! As I got older my taste in music matured ever more. If you were assumeing I am some teenager who doesnt know real music you are wrong! I like all kinds of metal! If you are going to call me a poser metal head you are wrong! I have respefct for all kinds of metal! I like stuff like Soilwork, Dimmu Bogir, Trivium, Dio, Nevermore, Dragonforce, and etc. etc. I like everything from classic metal, power, death, black, nu metal and beyond!
I am just sick of all this bashing of nu-metal. You have no right to judge all nu-metal fans as idiot narrow-minded teenagers! Seriously Its just like me judgeing all you narrow minded classic rockers as 35 year losers who live in their mother's basement who just cant leave the 70's and the 80's behind! Because that is probably what most of you are! If you were a "true metalhead" as you call yourself surely you would have respect for all kinds of metal! If you are saying nu-metal is talentless you must be a retard! Every genre of music is talented in its own right (except for teen pop and rap.)
Seriously why bash Slipknot if the Backstreet Boys just came out with a new CD? I am sure even you would rather listen to Slipknot than listen to them. I know I would. Like I said I am tired of hearing "Nu-Metal is dead!" So Hair Metal or Glam Metal is not dead? Yeah right! You are saying nu-metal is dead but I dont reckon the genres I just listed stayed for long now did they? Dont get me wrong I like that kind of stuff too.
As time goes by things change! Get used to it! People who were raised around different things like different stuff! I was raised around nu-metal so what do you expect? Although I do like everything else. Seriously I hear alot of people saying extremely cruel and uncalled for things about nu-metal fans and saying things like "I hope all you nu-metal fans get AIDS" or "I wont 2 kill mislef wen I heer dis!!" I think it is wrong to hate people just because they like a different genre of music than you do! So wish such a terrible thing just because I like a different kind of music than you do? AIDS is nothing to joke around about. You are sick! And if you are going to kill yourself just over music then you must be a retard.
So what if Slipknot sounds like every other nu-metal band. Hey most hair metal bands sound exactly the same as eachother so there. Sorry about my rambleing. Now about Slipknot. Yeah I know they sound like every other nu-metal band but hey who cares! Then again what band doesnt these days. I dont even know what I just said...
Free Music Review: Awesome!!!!!AWESOME!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
When i first heard of these guys, KoRn was my favorite band, and i didnt know what to think about these guys. I got the CD burned from a friend and it was awesome. So i bought it. I wouldnt exactly say each member is a "master" of their instrument, but they are pretty good at them. The drumming is a masterpiece. It is so great, and Joey and Chris really work things up. Shawn is only featured in a few songs like Wait and Bleed,Surfacing, and Prosthetics. The guitars seem to have the right distortion and tuning because i think they are great and go with the drums. The bassist seems to be a little shy, but his bass has the right settings that make it go with the guitar well. The Dj could have been a sampler if he had any talent, but if you've seen (sid) at workyou know he goes very fast. So thats why they dont. The vocals are really good. His screaming voice is great, and he has a good voice, and the lyrics seem to deel with violence, sellouts, hatred, and other things.74261700027- an opening track in which it is a sample of different sayings 'the whole thig i think is sick'. (sic)- the first real song. Its not a 'good' song, its just flat out heavy song that introduces the listener to what the whole band sounds like altogether. 8/10 Eyeless- My personal favorite. This track keeps the blood pumping and is very very heavy. the best is the drumming hear. 9/10 Wait and Bleed- a single that never fails to deliver great vocals, drumming, guitar, heavyiness, lyrics, and everything slipknot has on this CD. 8/10 Surfacing- a very heavy song with very "catchy" lyrics. The guitar are simple, as are the drums. 8/10 Spit it Out- a fast paced rap mosher flick. its also heavy. if you like hard heavy music with a fast paced beat, this song should be the one. 9/10 Tattered and Torn- My least favorite track. Its not that great of a song, its slow, and not 'slipknot' like. But i like the original on the firstCD, so i'll give it a 5/10 Me iNside- A very good song. Another favorite of mine. The chorus is a good listen, but dont expect the MUSIC do be that great. 8/10 Liberate- Awesome song. This song is awesome. Its got a great opening riff, and its like Spit it out with the fast paced beat and rap style killer sound. 10/10 Prosthetics- A slow, yet creepy song, that later gets a you moshing!satan. 9/10 No Life- a good little guitar riff, and pretty heavy too. 9/10 Diluted- another freaky style song, but its heavier that prosthetics. 9/10 Only One- this is one of my favorite songs on the whole CD. Its awesome.9/10 Scissors- GREAT GREAT SONG. 10/10 If you like Korn, Machine Head, Coal Chamber, then get this.
Free Music Review: Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
Firstly i'll begin this review by responding to the ignorant one star review by Slayerized. How you can say that this band lacks talent and then flog off the pathetic nu metal band Sevendust and to a lesser extent the new age Sepultura. You obviously know very little about good guitarists because the two Slipknot guitarists put their sevendust opponents to shame with some of the best and most complex riffing you are likely to here in the nu metal world. Also you did not mention anything about the brilliant drumming work of Joey Jordison (with minimal assistance from the two percussionists). Joey in my opinion has joined the likes of Igor Cavalera (sepultura), Vinnie paul (Pantera), Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad), Dave Lombardo (ex-slayer, Fantomas) and Raymond Herrera (fear factory) as one of the finest drummers in the world. Incidentally Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose would not make my top 100 list of best drummers.Anyway back to the task at hand... This mesmerising debut from the Iowa nine piece is a refreshing change from the lame brigade of nu metal bands and rap metal wannabes infesting the current metal scene (e.g. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin park, taproot, Disturbed, sevendust, papa Roach etc, etc...). Boasting a blistering twin axe attack, complimented by rumbling down tuned basslines, brilliant percussion and doublebass onslaught and creepy samples/scratches this watertight lineup impresses well before frontman Corey Taylor screams intelligent, aggressive heartfelt vocals while still displaying melody and a terrific vocal range. This music is death metal with greater variation and melody and a very minimal hip-hop influence (only one, liberate, no life). The best songs on this album are Eyeless, surfacing, SIC, wait and bleed, purity (now taken off the album), spit it out, and the atmospheric album closer scissors. However, the whole album is brilliant with the songs wait and bleed, no life, only one and liberate showcasing Corey's impressive vocal range and the brilliant grooves and change ups by a band of tremendous talent. I am not a huge fan of nu metal but slipknot take the genre to another level with this masterful debut. Apparently their upcoming sophomore effort will be even faster and heavier then this album!!! As for slayerized why don't you listen to some real metal such as Strapping Young lad, Pantera, Acid bath, fear factory, Machine Head, old metallica and Skinlab ( however stick with Slayer) and then try to criticise this album. By the way White Zombie were legendary Rob Zombie is a joke!!
