Free Music Notes for Slumdog Millionaire

Free Music Review: Awesome!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am so happy that finally one of world's best music composers gets his due in the west. With Slumdog Millionaire the legendary A.R.Rahman as always has given an utterly awesome and mindblowing album. The album is kind of an ambassador of Indian/Eastern music. Though for the western audience the sound is totally new, this is only one of nearly one hundred albums A.R.Rahman has given in his 16 years career. From overwhelming "O Saya" to vibrant "Jai Ho", every song is a gem in itself. The masterpiece work in "Mausam and Escape" and "Liquid Dance" gives a glimpse of immense talent the maestro got. The score is getting its due and has already been nominated for various awards including the prestigious Golden Globes. We keep our fingers crossed to see it getting the Oscars nomination too. Beside the Best Original Score category, Jai ho and O Saya are strong candidates for the nomination under the Best Original Song category as well. M.I.A's Paper Planes comes as a bonus.

Verdict: Go buy it for its sheer brilliance and to experience the genius A.R.Rahman is.

Free Music Review: Great soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll be honest, I am more of a fan of the soundtrack to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE than I am of the film itself. I first bought the cd before I went to see the weekend. I immediately fell in love with the soundtrack. While I enjoyed M.I.A's "Paper Planes" (both versions), the highlights for me on the soundtrack is A R Rahman's music. For the most part I liked A R Rahman's music. There was one song on the album that I didn't particularly care for which was "Gangsta Blues" which featured "BlaaZe and Tanvi Shah. The vocals got on every last nerve of mine. The rest of the soundtrack is fantastic. I really love the songs "Aaj Hi Raat", "Latika's Theme", "Dreams on Fire", and of course "Jai Ho". The melodies are undeniably infectious. I now have "Jai Ho" permanently stuck in my consciousness but I can't complain. It is a fun catchy song. I think SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is a great introduction to people who have never listened to Indian music. Thanks to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I have now started checking out A R Rahman's other works. His work on SLUMDOG has made me a fan.

Free Music Review: Riveting, pulse pumping soundtrack!
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, please have mercy on this review. I am no music expert; I wouldn't even call myself a music fan. I don't own an ipod, and if I had to shop for music right now, I would likely buy the first "best-of-the-80's-one-hit-wonders" CDs that I find. So the fact that I am attempting (again, go easy on me, it is a novice attempt) to write a music review is a credit to this compelling soundtrack.

This soundtrack is fresh, original, and soulful. This film is an absolute knock-out, in part because the soundtrack complements the action, characters, and emotion of the film so well. However, as great of a film as it is (I do believe it will walk away with the Best Picture Oscar) the soundtrack is even better than the film.

SIDENOTE: The music video at the end of the film seemed completely out of place, and I would have opted for it to not be there. However, I watched ever second of it and was captivated. I believe this was the director's way of paying homage to the music and spirit of the film.

Free Music Review: Excellent soundtrack for a GREAT movie!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of A.R. Rahman for a few years now, he is an amazing musical talent. The movie, Slumdog Millionaire, is absolutely as good as you've heard, it is a brilliant, unforgettable film and the soundtrack really stands out and enhances the movie. When the movie ended I knew I had to buy the soundtrack. It has an eclectic mix of super-catchy songs that have top-notch production values, rich musicality and wonderful vocals. Two of the songs on this soundtrack are Oscar nominated - "Jai Ho" and "O...Saya" - those songs are truly great, rich, and beautiful, and they are not even my favorites, though I love them! Some of my faves are "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. - a very catchy, fun pop song, "Ringa Ringa" has incredibly beautiful vocals, and the song "Aaj Ki Raat" is lush and one of the best on the CD. There is a great variety of songs on this CD, and it is one you will want to listen to over & over again...

Highly recommended!!

Free Music Review: Long Overdue...
Hit: 5 Stars

This soundtrack is a splendid piece of work from A.R Rahman "The Mozart of Madras". This soundtrack flows really well and it has a lot of emotion behind the music which is a key quality that a successful score must posses. To the guy who said this is nothing new and this is just another piece of "indian inspired" music. You are partly right, this is nothing new in India, many different indian composers have been making great music like this for many years but the western music lovers just haven't heard of it. Thanks to hollywood, many americans and westerners in general are hearing this masterpiece. This is not "Indian Inspired" western music, instead this is "Western Inspired" Indian music. This music perfectly encapsulates the younger generation of Indians, it is extremely modern but at the same time you can hear the traditional Indian music elements. I highly recommend this great soundtrack for any music lover!
