Free Music Notes for GishFree Music Review: Awesome and classic Hit: 5 Stars
As of 2010, I am 48. I had the privilege of listening to Dark Side of the Moon when it first came out, vinyl disk spinning, headphones on my head.
Two other albums have approached Dark Side, in my mind. Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction and Gish by Smashing Pumpkins.
Good stuff. Great for work-out or running, too.
Free Music Review: Pumpkins at their most psychedelic Hit: 5 Stars
This album had the pumpkins at their most psychedelic stage. This is especially present in Rhinoceros, Crush, Suffer, Snail, and Window Paine. Corgan's lyrics and vocals are some of the best ever (as usual). The guitars are coordinated perfectly and beautifully. This album is every bit as good as Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream. Simply wonderful.
Free Music Review: One of the greatest albums of all time Hit: 5 Stars
This album combines not only great guitar riffs, but truly shows that Billy Crogan is one of the greatest musicians of all time. From the first song titled appropriately, "I Am One" to the beautiful song "Window Paine". This album is the best album to combine complete edge and beauty since Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland.
Free Music Review: They should have been Nirvana! Hit: 5 Stars
I think that Nirvana's Nevermind completly overshadowed this beautiful album from a band that sounded unlike anything else at the time. When I listen to Gish I wonder to myself how tis posible that they werent the ones overshadowing Nirvana? Anyways I think the smashing pumpkins in general deserve alot more credit than given!
Free Music Review: Starchildren... Hit: 5 Stars
Gish is not the best Smashing Pumpkins album, but it is by far the most innocent. Siamese Dream had this compelling power surge hiding behind every note. Gish, however, contains something that SD doesn't- innocence. This is the strength of this incredible record. It's a man and his passion.
