Free Music Review: ROck and Style
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the first pumpkins album that really struck me. THe cross breeding of folk, psychadelica, alt. rock, and metal makes a perfect combination for me. The style is like no other and takes me off into a fantasy. Jimmy Chamberlain becomes more amazing to me the more i listen and discover about him. First off i think it is awesome that he was a Jazz drummer brought into rock and roll (elementary to most jazz musicians). Because by doing that, he showed that you don't have to stay simple to avoid sounding ridiculous playing rock music. He plays rudiments that most rock drummers don't use and makes them essential for the song. The rim shots in the midst of his fills come to mind when i think of Chamberlin. They are almost his signature deal. The songs wouldn't be the same without the rim shots. Every drummer shows off with 32nd notes and they all sound the same. But he makes 32nd note fills sound ten times better by accenting those rimshots in the right places. A lot of the times Chamberlain would get down right funky with rudiments and who would have thought this very stylistic nature of playing would have gone perfectly in sync with the distorted, fantasy like, atmosphere that the rest of the band created?
Its Brilliant.

Free Music Review: i LOVE this album
Hit: 5 Stars

Pisces is a great selection of songs. each of them compliments the next.

Soothe - is acoustic and dreamy. i like how the pumpkins open this album on a soft note.

Frail & Bedazzled- is a customary pumpkins rocker, complete with the metal crunch.

Plume - is really wierd. it reminds me of shoegazer pop, because the guitars are so loud yet the beat is so slow.

Whir - i love these one-named titles. whir is happy, and very pretty.

Blew away. a song from the iha files. it's whispered and dreamy.

Pissant - is one of my favorite songs on the album. loud, mindless fun, with the teenage angst we all love so much.

Hello Kitty Kat - same as before, except harsher.

Obscured - is a bloody beautiful song. this might be my favorite song on the album.

Landslide - a nice fleetwood mac cover.

starla - is a classic smashing pumpkins epic. it runs over 10 minutes long, but is always interesting.

Blue - Is fun, and kinda wierd. i like this song a lot.

a girl named sandoz - i don't know who wrote this, but i know it's a cover song.

La Dolly Vita - is my favorite sp song, period.

spaced - is a nice way to end the album. on a soft not again.

Free Music Review: Bsides!
Hit: 5 Stars

Billy Corgan probably never smashed a pumpkin in his life. He was too busy making fun of the macho oafs who fueled their teen angst with power chords and cheap beer. Corgan is much more the type to hide in his room and write sweet songs or bash out manic sludgefests with tricky titles. "Plume," being the perfect example, finds Corgan boasting "my boredom outshines the sun."

Boasting aside, Corgan's boredom is not contagious or completely self-serving. PISCES ISCARIOT is a collection of B-sides and rarities that, even more than GISH or SIAMESE DREAM, offers insight into the workings of one of alternative rock's most sought-after songwriters.

Corgan's introspective quiet side is exemplified by his cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and the Corgan original "Soothe," which, in the spirit of lo-fi, he recorded in his apartment. The other side of the Smashing Pumpkins' sound is James Iha's driving guitar, a psychedelic sonic blast that is quickly distinguishable from the ranks of AOR and typical grungy alterna-rock. If you'rea fan of the Smashing Pumpkins' sound, PISCES ISCARIOT will show you where it all came from.

Free Music Review: and these are B-Sides(!!!)
Hit: 5 Stars

If you want a classic Pumpkins Album then get this! In my Opinion, it even tops Siamese Dream. Like every Pumpkins Record, this one has a very special feeling to all the songs, even if they are B-Sides and have nothing to do with one another. "Soothe" is one of my favorite Pumpkins Songs ever, it's so simple and perfect at once. Most songs on the Album are extremely mellow, like "Whir", "Obscured" or "La Dolly Vita". You also hear James Iha singing on "Blew Away". It's really hard to name the highlights of this album because every song is an enormous highlight for itself. Not one weak point in 14 songs, most other bands can only dream of this. You won't realize that this is a B-Sides sampler! It would be silly to compare the Pumpkins Albums, but I like this one better than Siamese Dream and Gish. It isn't as monumental as "Mellon Collie" and not as special as "Adore" or as big as "Machina", but I think it's the heart of the band's career. It is an essential piece of any nineties-Rock Collection.

Free Music Review: old stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

Hello,... This album is gold and it does not matter if you are in pumpkins or not . Let's kick off with Soothe it is gentle, acoustic and a great start to the album. Frail and Bedazzeled, get's a Skunk kind of sound an it is a rocking, great song. Plume comes in number 3 and has an interesting.Whirr is a acousic, gentle song. Blew away is a Iha song, it is mostly a slow song, accept it gets rocking at the end. Pissant shows a punk song orientation. Hello kity kat continues rocking with great riffs and lyrics, and a funny title is perfect,.Obscured is on number 8, it should be on Lull, but it is here. Obscured is folowed by acoustic song Landslide... beautiful song. Number 10, it is Starla, The best song on the album, one of pumpkins best . Next one is another old song from Lull, Blue... it has a bass intro, and i love it, and so i love Girl named Sandoz... La dolly vita is another great song, that sounds, like Gish album. After that there is a weird finish to the album with Spaced, which is to bad to review. Well, that this is it, buy the album ... till next time... rock on
