Free Music Notes for Pisces IscariotFree Music Review: The Pumpkins NEVER fail to amaze me! Hit: 5 Stars
Saying this is the best Pumpkins' album is not only an overstatement (not to mention wrong) but it's an insult to the Pumpkins. No their best album would go to either Siamese Dream, or Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness. Great songs like: Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, Tonight Tonight, Zero, Bullet with butterfly wings, where boys fear to tread, bodies, and 1979. They're all too great to ignore. Though this album is nonetheless great, and better than most albums by just about any other band in the world. I have just recently gotten this cd, and I'm still adjusting to all the songs like I did with every other cd. The only problem I found with it is that it took me a whole 15 minutes to start really enjoying this piece of art. Whereas all my other Pumpkin albums (Siamese dream, Mellon Collie, adore, and gish) got me instantly. If you're a pumpkins fan, and you've already got SD and MCIS, then by all means get this cd, you'll enjoy it. But if you're new to Pumpkins, then get the other two first.
Free Music Review: Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Hit: 5 Stars
One has to wonder... if this is the kind of thing that the Pumpkins use for their _B-sides_, then it's no wonder they're considered among the best. Lots of great stuff here... "Soothe", "Whir" and "La Dolly Vita" are beautiful-sounding melodies; "Frail and Bedazzled" and "Starla" really rock ("Starla" also features some great soft spots); "Obscured" and "Blue" are both great; "Spaced", though really wierd, is also worthy of mention; the cover of "Landslide" sounds far better than the original... but I believe that the best indicator of how great this album is would be the fact that I literally woke up right in the middle of the night just to get out this CD and listen to it (specifically, "Blew Away", which has got to be the greatest thing that ever happened to James Iha). Get it now, if not sooner.
Free Music Review: Great release from the best band of the 90's Hit: 5 Stars
Most bands don't even approach this with their A material. Billy Corgan is a musical genious with James Iha being quietly great along side. This collection contains several great soothing tunes like "Blew Away" "Hello Kitty Kat" "Soothe" and my personal favorite "Whir" which sounds incredible on a good stereo along with several others. Included with the soothers are only two rockers "Frail and Bedazzled" which is one of the best power tunes from the band and "Plume". The rest are lighter tunes and all are great. The only one here that I don't care for is "Girl Named Sandoz" but some may like it. If you are new to the band grab it along with Siamese and Melancholy and if you are already a Pumkins fan it is a must. And I guess you can't forget Gish - just get all of the releases they are all unique and conatain some great stuff.
Free Music Review: Super B-Sides! Hit: 5 Stars
I got this album after "Adore", "Siamese Dream" and "Gish" and I can't stop listening to it! Songs like "Starla" , "Blew Away" or the astonishing "Landslide" should be A-sides! A very personal, dark and introspective album. We start with "Soothe" a sweet, simple and beautiful song, after that we have another smash "Blew Away" the only song where Billy didn't stuck his nose into, but simply superb (after you get used to the vocals, you'll love it! Ok, now to the best song of them all... LANDSLIDE ! A beautiful ballad that makes me cry, with a nice guitar and the soft beautiful voice of Billy , although Billy didn't write the lyrics the song it's still AWESOME! There are other great song like "Starla" , "Hello Kitty Kat" or the hilarious "Spaced" . Fantastic Work guys!
Free Music Review: The Best Smashing Pumpkins Album Hit: 5 Stars
Pisces Iscariot is definitely one of the albums with the most variety that I have ever heard. Although I love Siamese Dream, most of the songs sound alike... but this album is different. "Pissant" is one rockin' song and so is "Hello Kitty Cat." "Landslide" and "Soothe" are both excellent songs which you must listen to. "A Girl Named Sandoz," however, is FANTASTIC! This song is so catchy - I LOVE IT. "Spaced" is a song that reminds of Zeppelin's "No Quarter" because of it's "spaced-out" melody - even though the lyrics are very cruel and resemble feelings of bigotry. But, the good thing is - is that the lyrics are EXTREMELY hard to understand. Take it from me, buy this album if you don't already have it and AVOID "ADORE"
