Free Music Notes for Pisces IscariotFree Music Review: This was an OUTTAKES collection! Hit: 5 Stars
This is only slightly less impressive than _Siamese Dream_, and since _Pisces_ isn't even a proper album, that reveals a _lot_ about the power of the Pumpkins as a band. You've gotta love "Obscured," "La Dolly Vita," "Pissant," "Starla," and "Landslide." Even the weird ones -- "Spaced," "Blue," etc. -- grow on you. There isn't really a weak track on this collection... the Pumpkins' outtakes were better than the singles of some of their contemporary bands (no names ... *cough cough* ... **Ahem Stone Tem ** ahemple Pilots**). Forget what the amazon.com reviewer said about "Corgan's love of bad '70s AOR and reduction of..." whatever, cause this one rocks, and it's just essential as _Siamese_ and _Mellon Collie_. I love it!
Free Music Review: Beautiful, Powerful, the REAL Pumpkins Hit: 5 Stars
When I was about 12 years old I asked my parents to get me a Smashing Pumpkins CD for Christmas. I was hoping to get Siamese Dream, but for some reason they picked this one up. I'm so glad they did, and I'm glad this is what got me started on the Pumpkins. I think this is their best cd, with Gish and Siamese tied for 2nd. Every song on here is an absolute masterpiece. Some highlights of the disc...Starla- I've never heard anything quite like this. Billy goes INSANE on guitar for the last half of the song. Beautiful noise. Soothe- gives me chills every time. Hello Kitty Kat- goes to show that this band had more chops than anyone in the "alternative" music world. Anyway, if you call yourself a fan of SP but don't have this disc, you BEST go pick it up now!!
Free Music Review: B-sides and insight Hit: 5 Stars
This is basically the last example of the pumpkins in pre-progressive form. Many of the songs were recorded well before this album ever even existed, and truly they all have their own appeal. This album is downshifted more from the previous two LPs, it is full of more relaxed music and poorer recording quality(at times). One of the main appealing factors on this release is the track "Blew Away" written by James Iha, offering a little insight into his pontential(actally I believe he wrote another on the album as well but I'm not sure which one). To me the other main attraction is the album's centerpiece "Starla" which is in my opinion is one of the last big sendoffs of early-era pumpkins. This is a fan must-have, and recommended to all.
Free Music Review: best cd in the WORLD!! Hit: 5 Stars
I don't even know how to start to write this review. First of all i think that i'm one of the biggest smashing pumpkins fans in the universe so i know what im talking about. This was my first cd of theirs i bought about 5 years ago and this is what got me hooked. The song la dolly vita is only the greatest song ever known to man. Plume is the next best on the cd, awsome accustic and singing. Then there is the one that can't be forgotten is obscured which is one of the coolest songs you'll prolly ever hear in your life. For the last song Spaced that song is even awsome too but you have to listen very closly to the words for the song to be good. If you are reading this review go and download the song la dolly vita right now i promise you wont regret it!
Free Music Review: There are not enough words to describe this...... Hit: 5 Stars
Maybe I'm a little biased, seeing as the Pumpkins have been my favorite band for over 4 years now....but this disc is one of the many reasons why!!!!!!!!! I have NEVER heard a Pumpkin song that I did not like! All the songs are beautiful and special in their own ways. This disc contains one of my favorite Pumpkins songs, however. The song is "Obscured" and it has this AMAZING affect over me..... after a long stressful day, I pop in this disc and put on that song first and I can feel everything begin to melt away..... Seriously, it is ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS I HAVE EVER HEARD...it sounds like an ANGEL LULLABY...twinkly and bright and soothing. The rest of the songs rock, too. This disc is WORTH EVERY PENNY!
