Free Music Notes for Siamese DreamFree Music Review: precious memories Hit: 5 Stars
It must have been at the end of 1991 that some guy at my fathers work, who knew i liked alternative music, gave me a tape with two "new good bands" on it. On the A-side there was this band called Monster Magnet and on the B-side there was 'Gish', the first Smashing Pumpkins album. When i listened to the tape i knew that i didn't like Monster Magnet, but i fell in love with 'Gish'. That was the moment i started to follow the Smashing Pumpkins and i listened to 'Gish' a lot for the next two years. By 1993 i had become a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, so it's needless to say that i bought 'Siamese Dream' on the day of its release in the summer of 1993. It's 2002 now and it's been 9 years ago that 'Siamese Dream' was released and i must have listened to this album about 235,235,366 times since 1993. To me it's the best cd of all-times and the closest to my heart. Actually i am planning to buy 'Siamese Dream' for the second time as my copy has been completely 'worn off' over the years. I've never done that before, but i know 'Siamese Dream' is worth it. I'll keep my casette-tape of 'Gish' and my completely 'worn off' copy of Siamese Dream as nice memories to a band that have had a big influence on my life as a teenager. (P.s. i'm sorry that my english is a bit poor at times)
Free Music Review: My favorite cd Hit: 5 Stars
I have always loved this album and wanted to write a review on it but i didn't wanna end up writing a subpar review of it that would make others think that i dont appreciate this album as much as i do. blah, blah, blah, i think too much
Anyway, here we go Siamese Dream is the best album of the last 15 or so years for sure. Everything about it is great. It has many different styles of songs, it has amazing guitars(lead and rhythm), its intros and outros are amazing, and the lyrics are equally amazing.
What makes me appreciate the album even more is the fact that you can tell that Corgan put an ungodly amount of effort into making each of these songs. All the layering of guitars, the back-up vocals, the interesting outros, and the overall catchiness of this album. This is a must buy for any fan of alt. rock, rock, good guitars, or just music in general. And please give it some time if you're initially turned off by Corgan's voice as many are.
soma, geek usa, mayonaise, and spaceboy are probably the standouts here, but every track is good. just as every pumpkins album is good. What can i say i am a sp freak.
But seriously listeners of all genres of music should give siamese dream a listen if they havent already.
Free Music Review: Probably the Greatest Album of all time Hit: 5 Stars
This album defines more than a certain genre. It's not aimed to make the listener feel any certain way, pose any certain beliefs, nor does Siamese Dream have an over the top, anything to be artistic appeal to it. The first listen to this album displays the band (mostly Billy's) talent. By the second listen I was in love with the melody's, humming along with almost every song. By the fifth listen I knew over half the lyrics, and could feel Billy's pain with every chord. 7 years later as I listen to my 3rd copy of this album (cd's do wear out) I am still in love. This album is amazing. If you love music, there is no way you can pass this experience up. This is the album that has shaped my life. I guess you can't say it much more real than that, as cheezy as it sounds. I have over 700 cd's and this one has been one of 5 constants. I bought this cd for Disarm, Today and Cherub Rock, I soon fell in love with Rocket, Quiet and Hummer, then my favorite tracks were Luna, Sweet Sweet, and Geek, today my favorites are Soma and my all time favorite song, Mayonaise. This album is the Pumpkins version of Dark Side of the Moon. Breakthrew, amazing, and remains almost every true fans favorite. Bottom line: Buy it, and pay for overnight shipping :)
Free Music Review: close you eyes and sleep Hit: 5 Stars
The second album pumped out by the already troubled young sp is the best. Some of the songs are real "rockers" like "geek u.s.a", "today" and "hummer", to the slow songs featuring the crackled and emotionalized voice of Billy Corgan. Songs such as "soma", "spaceboy" and "mayonnaise". This album has the rock of the early sp and not the hype of the first disc to "mellon collie" (featuring "zero", "tonight tonight" and "bullet with butterfly wings"). A big leap since "gish" (1991) to the fame of "today" with the viedo of Billy Corgan driving a ice cream truck and James Iha in a girls dress. The songs dig deap into billy's depression (the driving force of sp lyrics). Unlike most grunge/alt bands of the 90's Sp didnt mind being successful. They sure were! Unlike bands that faded out by '95 like Nirvana (do to the death of Kurt Cobain) and the flamming lips (I see "clouds taste metallic" as a flop) to bigger sucess with "mellon collie". Dont be fooled! "mellon collie" may have gone triple platinum, but lacks the emotionally challenged lyrics of "simease dream". Buy this first, you wont regret it!
Free Music Review: Unbelievable Hit: 5 Stars
I never give albums five stars; however, this is the only album that truly deserves all five. It is, simply put, a masterpiece of the highest order. It's just indescribable really, but I'll try.
Every second of this album fills my small heart with so much joy that I cannot contain myself. I start breathing faster, I start to shake. It's that good, and at the very center of it, diving the two halves, is "Soma," the song to end all songs. That's it, just stop now because no one will ever compose a more beautiful six minutes and thirty-nine seconds. Yeah, I know all the song times by heart. And all the lyrics (of course). I don't think you understand just how obsessed with this album I am. I have six copies: my original CD, another still in the cellophane in case of emergencies, one in my car, and another that lives in my portable CD player. And then there's my vinyl: one still in the cellophane, the other residing permanently on my record player. Now do you kind of understand what I mean? I am convinced that if I am not sick of it now, after almost twelve years of listening to it, I will never be sick of it and therefore should never buy another album, for none will satisfy me as much as this has.
Okay, thanks.
