Free Music Review: I love this CD

This CD is probably the best CD i've heard all year, well, besides the new chevelle record. But, i love this CD. It's different,but who cares. Every CD the Smashing pumpkins has had, it's different. I like all of their CD's. This CD is somewhat politically dark. The Guitars of Billy Corgan and the drumming of Jimmy Chamberlin is beautiful through out the CD. Especially the powerhouse "United States". 7 shades of black is my favorite sob giong of this CD. My second would have to be Bleeding Orchard. Then the rest fall in line. If this CD doesn't go platinum, then i will be upset. The music through out is extremely different, but change is good. Especially when you have billy corgan and Chamberlin behind it all. I seen a lot of mixed reviews about this album and Corgan just using the pumpkin name to make a buck. The truth of the matter is, Corgan IS the Smashing Pumpkins. If you didn't think so the first time, listen to the disc again. I could here all of my favorite remnants from Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie. Personally, I never listened to the Pumpkins for James Iha or D'arcy. I was more enchanted by the way Corgan's voice seemed to melt into the sound of the electric guitar. There are an infinite number of bands that change members time and time again.
Hands down, this albums rocks. It's poetic, heavy, light, dark, gray, brooding, shrill, pumpkiny! Enjoy! May you be as nostalgic as I was.
Free Music Review: RE: No D'Arcy & Iha

This seems to be a common compliant about this record, that it isn't a true Pumpkins album because D'Arcy and Iha didn't participate. Who cares? If some of these people were aware with how the Pumpkins recorded their previous albums they'd know that Corgan did virtually everything except for drumming. Thus Iha and D'Arcy had little studio input into the previous records and using that as a point to attack Corgan is both unfair and ignorant. Honestly half of the negative reviews here are nothing but attacks on Corgan himself instead of giving this fantastic record's songs a chance. This IS the Smashing Pumpkins and in my opinion it's their best album since Mellon Collie.Free Music Review: a differnt pumpkins

Pull your head out of the past and appreciate that in a day when marketing > musical abilities people like BC are still around to make albums like this (using the SP name for this cd is of course great marketing but marketing is unlikely to be the SOLE reason for this action, wanna ask billy??). I can't say every song is perfect by any means, but that goes the same for ALL the other SP cds... The singles on this are rock solid and stuck in my head.
Ignore the nostalgic naysayers and the blind fanboys as both these categories have bias opinions, and chances are most of them pirated this album anyways, and the rips were terrible from what I have heared.

I assume some of the low reviewers have some sort of agenda against Smashiong Pumpkins, or have their parties in a wad because it's Billy Corgan and a new band. Who cares??? This CD really really rocks! The choice tracks are when they go the hardest (the majority) - great drumming and guitar work. A few more mellow type songs, but none of the super slow stuff that the Pumpkins used to do (that I never liked much anyways). I also dig the retro feel to some of them. Keep up the good work.
Side note - how funny is it that this came out the same time as Linkin Park, and this one blows LP away!!! LP put out an emo CD and the Punpkins go hard!!!
