Really, I wasn't expecting much from Billy after all these years, so I was mildly surprised by the quality of the songs in Zeitgeist. Corgan is always a good craftsman, but the passion has been gone for many years. In Zeitgeist, some of it is back. A song like Bleeding the Orchid has not appeared in a Smashing Pumpkins album for years, but here it is, and it's great. I think the long break was good for the band, and they seemed to have gained back some of the passion. I can't wait to see a show now.Free Music Review: The Hangman's Noose

Y'know how when someone was sentenced to death, and they would be hung, once the floor dropped out from under them, they would start kicking and flailing wildly in a desperate attempt to live? This is the musical equivalent of that. Just when this band had pretty much outlived it's relevance, they come out swinging with a blistering, original piece of the rock. They even had the balls to call it "Zeitgeist". Awesome.

Not too Repetitive but enough t get thie message across

Free Music Review: Great Album/Welcome Back

Anyone who gave this less than 4 stars must have had unreasonable expectations. This is a great album and a welcome return for this great band (even though there are only two original members). I would have given this a 4.5, but that is not an option.
If you liked Siamese Dream and Melancholy than you really should like this too. I am glad that this was released.

I have listened to this album now about 5 times and I have to say that I like it. Its no Siamese Dream but its a good album. There are more good songs on this than bad. I have been a Pumpkins fan for a long time and the seven year wait was well worth it. The Pumpkins are back. My favorite song on the album right now has to be 7 shades of black. Love it!
