I've got over 3000 albums, CDs etc and this one is in the top 50 for sure. This record is as good as anything by Dylan, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Zeppelin, Ray Charles, the Stones, Who, Miles Davis, Zappa, Floyd, Louis Armstrong... you name it...ANYTHING by ANYBODY.
Johnny Marr and Morrissey plus Rourke & Joyce combined to create a unique sound and attitude that has never been even adequately IMITATED let alone equalled.
This is the "most" Smiths for the money you can get, so for the beginner you can't go wrong starting here!

the smiths..the 80's rock band with a wonderful frontman who wrote some of the best lyrics ever comitted to music then you have johnny mars coming up with beautifully arranged music that really sets the lyrics alight,,god this band were good, i mean really good not one single dud song on this compilation,
highlights there's so many well her's a few standout tracks

for years I only had best of the smiths vol. 1, figuring that had all their best songs. wrong! so much great stuff on this one, even with some duplication from best 1. totally worth every penny. "you just haven't earned it yet baby" and "sweet and tender hooligan" and many more. song for song, better than best 1. be cool--buy it. and if you've read "the perks of being a wallflower" (and you should have) this has "asleep," the song the kid is always talking about. brilliant!

im sorry bundy but you are sadly mistaken. from oscillate wildy to asleep some of the best Smiths tunes are present- ever heardthis night has opened my eyes? only 1 song is bad on here and the smiths didnt even write it- golden lights- and even that is ok sometimes. this was my first smiths album whic i picked up for 2 quid, and it is probably still the best value for money. especially considering i bought it for charming man- and it bloody well wasnt on it! doh!Free Music Review: AMAZING

I am a fan of hardcore punk rock, and when i say that this is one of my favorite albums of all time, people do not understand. I first heard this album about 3 1/2 years ago and i instantly fell in love with Morissey's amazing voice and song writing abilities. If you are a fan of music in general, please take the time and listen. Even if you are not a fan of contemporary 80's rock. Listen, because this album can open up new doors, I know it did for me.
