Free Music Notes for DoggystyleFree Music Review: One of hip hop's truly defining albums Hit: 5 Stars
I shouldn't really have to say much about what a classic "Doggystyle" is. Following Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", Dre produced his Long Beach buddy Snoop's 1993 album, and it became one of hip hop's critically and commercially lauded pieces. The album blends production and lyricism like the world had never seen before. Dre keeps the beats at a slow, bass and synth heavy, incredibly smooth tempo, perfectly matching Snoop's laidback drawly flow. Snoop's stories and raps were also pioneering, telling tales of drug crimes, gun fights, gang conflict, women encounters, and life in Long Beach. Snoop is such an amazing MC because his character is incredibly tough and hard yet inexplicably likable. "Doggystyle" is one of rap's most influential and simply great albums and should be owned by any rap fan.
Following the "Bathtub" skit is the incredibly funky "G-Funk Intro", aided by LBC peer Lady of Rage. She drops a great introductory verse and Dre's beat is awesome, with a whiny synth, driving bass and hard drum kicks. Next is the legendary classic "Gin and Juice", the song that defines g-funk. Snoop tells a tale of a party in his city, with a perfect singalong chorus and a beat that spawned a thousand imitators. "Tha Shiznit" is just a laidback song where Snoop explores his personality, and it has a catchy hook. The slow rolling "Lodi Dodi" is just a fun song to listen to. "Murder Was the Case" is the next classic here, where Snoop yarns a tale of murder, Dre drops a creepy beat to match, it's great. Tha Dogg Pound drops by for "Serial Killa", a tough and smooth cut. "Who Am I (What's My Name)" may be Snoop's best known song, his signature song with three classic verses, a memorable hook ("Snoop Doggy Daaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwg") and great beat. "Ain't No Fun" is probably my favorite song here, a conversation with a lady. Nate Dogg kills the chorus and has a verse of his own. It's a very upbeat, happy tune with a sweet synth and bass. The classic g-funk of "Doggy Dogg World" and the hard guitar laced "Gz and Hustlaz" close out the album well.
Please note that this 2001 rerelease of "Doggystyle" contains a different tracklist than the original. The original 1993 pressing had 19 tracks, including a bonus song "Pump Pump" featuring Mr. Malik of Illegal and five short interludes throughout the album. The original 1993 pressing is out of print, and the rerelease contains the 13 tracks mentioned in the tracklist.
"Doggystyle" is hip hop executed at its finest, just fun and effective music. I recommmend it to all music lovers, for its fun lyricism combined with great production make for an awesome album that you can listen to over and over again. Definitely pick this one up if you haven't.
Free Music Review: G-Funk Classic Hit: 5 Stars
In 1992, Dr. Dre created the G-Funk and the first G-Funk classic "The Chronic". And also let the whole world know who Snoop Dogg is. And in 1993, Snoop Dogg's first album "Doggystyle" came out. This album is another G-Funk classic. Every type of mood on it - party, gangsta, and soft. It was recorded as the first top-charted-debut album. All songs produced by Dr. Dre!
1. Bathtub (N/A)
2. G Funk Intro (5/5) - Very exciting. The Lady Of Rage raps crazily and Snoop just talks about the introduction of G-Funk Era.
3. Gin & Juice (5/5) - Classic. Snoop goes so well with the laid-back G-Funkin' Dr. Dre-produced beat! One of the best tracks on this album. And very addictive. It's well-known for the famous line - "They ain't livin' 'til 6 in tha morning~".
4. Tha Shiznit (5/5) - This is crazy. Needless to say Dre's beat is so gangsta and Snoop flows damn well. Lyrics are interesting.
5. Lodi Dodi (5/5) - It's almost the remix version of Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick's original one. Snoop made a good story and the way of him imitating Slick Rick is kinda funny.
6. Murder Was The Case (5/5) - Classic. Snoop made a very good story again on this song. Daz featured on it as an evil-voice-having ghost. Everybody has to listen to this classic G-Funk track.
7. Serial Killa (5/5) - Tha Dogg Pound and RBX featured on it. Contains a sample from The Ohio Players' "Funky Worm". Everybody raps well to the great beat.
8. Who Am I (What's My Name)? (5/5) - Classic. Snoop's rapping is very catchy and gangsta. If you play this song in the club, all the people will take off their clothes and go mad.
9. For All My N****z & B****es (5/5) - It's Tha Dogg Pound's track. The Lady Of Rage featured on it. Daz & Kurupt drop some bombs on it and Snoop does too a little bit.
10. Aint No Fun (If The Homies Cant Have None) (5/5) - Kurupt, Nate Dogg and Warren G featured on it. The mood is kinda bright. G-Funk Gangsta-Lovin' track.
11. Doggy Dogg World (5/5) - Tha Dogg Pound and The Dramatics on it! Snoop, Daz & Kurupt are great but you have to listen carefully when The Dramatics sing. It's a perfect idea to invite them as guest appearances.
12. Gz And Hustlas (5/5) - It contains one of Snoop's most powerful rappings. The beat is crazy again and lyrics are impressive.
13. Pump Pump (4/5) - Lil' Malik is better than Snoop on it. He was young then. But he drops some unbelievable gangsta lyrics on it.
I'm Korean who's only 15 and recommending this G-Funk classic to everyone. This album will make your ears hot.
Free Music Review: Doin' it DOGGYSTYLE! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a straight up classic from top to bottom. Every song is great including the intro and skits. Standouts include "Gin and Juice", "Tha Shiznit", "Murder Was The Case", "Who Am I"(best track in my opinion), and "Aint No Fun." This was the last album Dre produced the entire album for another artist and Dre's production did not disappoint. Dre took a whole lotta samples to create a G Funk masterpiece. This album was Snoop's so i gotta give credit where credit is due. On this album, he was young, hungry, and his voice sounded so smooth and on point which perfectly meshed with dre's beats. Snoop brought a whole new flow, look, and attitude to being a rapper. He's so different than any other rapper in the game and that's why I'm a fan. All guests on the album hold their own especially Kurupt sort of stealing snoop's spotlight on a couple songs. I think Tha Dogg Pound should always be the most heavily used guets on Snoop's albums because they got alotta talent and them w/ Snoop create the ultimate Dogged out team. I constantly listen to this album over and over and never get tired of it. I just wish the songs "Doggystyle" ft. George Clinton, "Tha Next Episode" ft. Dr. Dre, "Gz Up Hoes Down", and "Playing for Keeps" ft. the Convicts were included because each one is produced by Dre and each one is hot. i understand they wanted to keep the album short and sweet and that's why these tracks were not included, but they would make this album even crazier...imagine that? Death Row to this day still hasn't released these songs so i'm getting tired of waiting. This was Snoop in his prime although I also like Tha Doggfather, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, Tha Last Meal, and a select few from "Da Game is to be sold not to be told" and "No Limit Top Dogg" but they still don't compare to "Doggystyle." His stuff with the Eastsidaz are also solid. People give Snoop a lot of criticism when they only hear his commercial stuff nowadays. Snoop changes his style up for every album and i understand that and i'm still a fan. All y'all Snoop Doggy Dogg haters need to slow up. Anywayz,I would like to see snoops last album with dre production on every song but this is highly unlikely but would be crazy. If not, we always have DOGGYSTYLE...my favorite rap album of all time. Other West Coast classics are Ice Cube "Amerikkkaz most wanted" and "Death Certificate", Mack 10's self titled album, WC-"Curb Servin", Dr. Dre "The Chronic", MC Ren "Kizz My Black AZZ" and "Shock of the hour", Bad Azz "Word on tha Street", Tha Dogg Pound "Dogg Food", Eazy E "Its On-187um killa", and so many others. West Coast rap all night betta yet foe life! and i'm out ya......
Free Music Review: Snoop Doggy Dogg - "Doggystyle" (5 stars) Hit: 5 Stars
Before the release of this album in 1993, Snoop Doggy Dogg was already a household name in hip-hop, appearing as a guest on well over half of Dr. Dre's classic 1992 album "The Chronic" and he wrote most of Dre's rhymes on that album. So in a way, this debut album could very well be considered a sophomore release, but either way, Snoop holds his own on this album, and it is completely flawless.
Snoop's laid back flow and west coast gangsta raps go hand-in-hand, his voice is smooth and soothing, which is another plus here. At this point, Snoop's flow in my opinion was second-to-none. I will agree that he is not the greatest lyricist, but his rhymes on here hold their own and he does it well. His breath-control was amazing on here, as some of the tracks don't have choruses, and there is only a limited amount of time for him to catch his breath, let alone all the chronic he was blowing back in those days. The lyrics are truly on another level.
As for the production, this has the greatest beats I have ever heard. Dr. Dre, one of my favorite hip-hop producers, did some of the best work in his career on here. Every beat on this album is packed with that g-funk that west coast hip-hop heads know and love. There is no bunk beats here, so don't expect anything less than amazing.
Here's my individual track-by-track ratings.
01. "Bathtub" (N/A)
02. "G Funk Intro" (ft. The Lady Of Rage) (A+)
03. "Gin And Juice" (A+)
04. "Tha Shiznit" (A+) (favorite)
05. "Lodi Dodi" (A+)
06. "Murder Was The Case" (ft. Dat Nigga Daz) (A+)
07. "Serial Killa" (ft. D.O.C., RBX & Tha Dogg Pound) (A+)
08. "Who Am I (What's My Name)?" (A+)
09. "For All My Niggaz & Bitches" (ft. Tha Dogg Pound & The Lady Of Rage) (A+)
10. "Aint No Fun" (If The Homies Cant Have None) (ft. Nate Dogg, Warren G & Kurupt) (A+)
11. "Doggy Dogg World" (ft. Tha Dogg Pound & The Dramatics) (A+)
12. "Gz And Hustlas" (A+)
13. "Pump Pump" (ft. Lil Malik AKA Lil Hershey Loc) (A+)
If you're a hip-hop fan, a p-funk fan, a gangsta rap fan, or whatever kind of funky music fan. I STRONGLY recommend to make room for this in your CD collection. I have no problem saying this is not only my favorite hip-hop album, but this has been my favorite album of any genre for quite a number of years. And I do not have any plans on changing that anytime soon. I recommend this to everyone who likes funky music. Get it. 'Nuff said. Peace.

Free Music Review: THE DOGGFATHER WOULD PUT OUT A DEBUT THAT WOULD LIVE ON TO BE HIS GREATEST ALBUM EVER. Hit: 5 Stars
KIDS WHAT IS GOING TO BE FIRST ON YOUR BIRTHDAY OR CHRISTMAS LISTS THIS YEAR, CORRECT SNOOP DOGG'S "DOGGYSTYLE". The rap legend puts out a classic cd, one that would be loved many, many years after its release. Five stars for Doggystyle, no wait ten, twenty, ect... This album is filled with amazing beats, great rhymes, and more amazing lyrics. There are countless classics on this once a career cd. I'll cut straight to the point and let you see my personal top five favorites, which is quite hard in a cd like this.
1. Who Am I( What's My Name)- Obviously the dominating track on this cd, decent length, amazing tune, beats, lyrics, and more. This song has it all.
2. Gin and Juice- In my opinion the second best track on "Doggystyle", yet could probably hold the number one spot on almost any other cd. Great Beat, that's what really makes this song good, and very good lyrics also.
3. Tha Shiznit- Another well put together song, lengthwise, and the rhythm in this song, amazing.
4. The G Funk Intro- A beat that is somewhat similar to "Tha Shiznit", this song has a nice catchy beat.
5. Doggy Dogg World- In my opinion not near as good as the first four in my order but definetly nothing that will let you down. This is another great track, that almost sounds a little softer than other tracks on the album.
Those are my top five. But i still think the whole album should get good recognition. I have been lucky enough to actually meet the legend Snoop Dogg himself, and I can tell you that this man worked hard on this album. I hope what i have told you here will help persuade you to get the album. Five stars up for "Doggystyle".
This would be a Rap album that would go down in history. This had a countless amount of singles, with songs that would get played on the radio 15 years later. Many people do not understand the power of this album.
People listen up. If you loved this album, and want something just like it, don't just go out and buy another Snoop album, although that wouldn't be a bad idea. GO OUT AND BUY THE CHRONIC BY DR. DRE WHICH FEATURES SNOOP IN OVER 1/2 THE SONGS, AND IS JUST ABOUT AS HOT AS THIS ALBUM. Please if you want don't forget to read and grade my other reviews, if you would like.
