Free Music Review: The pinnacle project of the gangsta rap era
Hit: 5 Stars

Snoop Dogg. Perhaps the most beloved rapper and pop culture icon of the last 10 years; Snoop has made a career of being cool. Though he as made average to solid albums during his tenure in hip hop, none have come close to matching his debut, artistcally or commercially. When he became the showpiece on Dr. Dre's the Chronic, he became the hot topic of discussion in hip hop circles; while he's not the most mindblowing MC ever, it's his flow and lyrical delivery that keep the listener mesmerized. Of the 14 songs on this album, seven of them are hip hop standards; What's My Name(with it's landmark "dog morphing" video),Gin And Juice(with it's unforgettable
house party video)Doggy Dogg World(with it's ode to the 70's featuring The Fabulous Dramatics) and Ain't No Fun(one of the gratest posse joints of all time, with the first apperances of Warren G and Nate Dogg),Murder Was The Case( talk about irony, since he actually WAS on trial for murder)G's Up, Hoes Down( which is on rare copies of the album, since it was removed due to an uncleared sample). Put in his masterful remake of Slick Rick's Lodi Dodi, Tha Shiznit, Stranded On Death Row, and the G's and Hustlaz and you have hip hop mastery and Deathrow Records at it's heights.

Free Music Review: Can't-miss-classic
Hit: 5 Stars

Words can hardly describe the quality of this album. Dre's beats, Snoops fantastic flow and his voice combine to a pefect mixture on "Doggystyle". Snoop could never reach this level of his solo debut again on any later album. No wonder; "Doggystyle" is a once-in-a-lifetime-achievement.

This album had a massive impact on the rap-industry and produced some classic songs which still today rappers refer to in their songs. This includes "Who Am I (What's My Name)?", "Murder Was the Case" and "Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None)". These are the standout-tracks of the album, but all of the songs a great. There's not a single weakpoint on this masterpiece. Aprt from that you get some brilliant guest-appearances by Nate Dogg and Warren G (who had formed the group "213" with Snoop earlier), Kurupt, the Lady of Rage and many more.

There are many references to Dr. Dre's "The Chronic", on which Snoop appeared first. It's a kind of a sequel; but it's even better than it's predecessor, which put L.A. on the map. But as I said in the beginning, you have to listen to "Doggystyle" yourself. It's definitively one of the Top 5 rap albums of all time.

Free Music Review: BOW WOW WOW!
Hit: 5 Stars

DOGGYSTYLE is the perfect counterpart to the legendary Dr. Dre masterpiece THE CHRONIC. Dre sits back and gives Snoop full control of the mic this time after having him steal the show lyrically on his own record and Snoop is more than up for the challenge. He takes the opportunity and with Dre's G-funk production backing him becomes the biggest rap star in the world. And if Snoop's laid back gangsta/pimp flow isn't enough Death Row family artists like Nate Dogg, Warren G, Daz and Kurupt are back again to join in on this gangsta-funk party celebrating p****, gin, juice, chronic and indo. "Ain't No Fun(If My Homies Can't Have None)" is reminiscent of Dre's N.W.A. productions from NIGGAZ4LIFE like "She Swallowed It" and "Automobile" where sex is very much a laughing matter. On "Murder Was The Case" Snoop is more introspective about urban realities that came far to close to becoming true for the former Crip after he and his bodyguard were charged with murder in the year following the release of this album. And there are more than enough party songs like "Gin And Juice" and "Who Am I? (What's My Name?)" as well as many more. DOGGYSTYLE is simply one of the best rap albums ever recorded.

Free Music Review: It's a Doggy Dogg World!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one the best Rap albums of all time. This on the same level as "The Chronic" it's hard to say which is better. This is a hip-hop classic without a doubt every song is amazing. A lot of the songs on this album are overplayed (especially on the West Coast) but it doesn't really matter. There are really good songs on this album that arn't heard on the radio too often. My favorite songs are Lodi Dodi, The Shiznit, Murder Was the Case, Doggy Dogg World, and G'z Up Ho's Down. There are also the CLASSIC Joints: Gin and Juice, What's My Name, and Ain't No Fun. I don't understand how any hip-hop fan could not like this CD. Snoop has never even come close to making an album that can even been compared with this, This is his only album that was entirely produced by Dr. Dre, and it will probobly be the only one. It's rare now-a-days for a well-known rapper to make an album that is produced by one person which i think is unfortunate. It seems like every album now has a song produced by the Neptunes, Timbaland, Jermain Dupri, or Just Blaze. I think that if Snoop ever wants to come close to making another album as good as "Doggystyle" he needs to get with Dr. Dre and nobody else.

Free Music Review: One of the Top Rap Albums Ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

Every track on this CD is good. There is not ONE bad track to speak of, and that's a huge accomplishment by itself. This is the perfect complement to The Chronic. Both albums define the very nature of what G-Funk and rap are all about. It's produced by Dr. Dre, and his influence is seen in every track through incredibly irrestible beats (a la The Chronic). This CD has some of the best beats ever heard on a rap album, combined with incredible lyrics and Snoop's best style. Guest appearances from The Dogg Pound rappers are excellent, and this is by far Snoop's best rapping.

This CD CANNOT be compared to any other Snoop Dogg CD; it surpasses any of his other albums with ease. There are so many classics on this album ("Gin and Juice," "Murder Was the Case," "Ain't No Fun," "Tha Shiznit," etc.) and the others, though less played, are equally as good. If you liked The Chronic (in other words, if you like real rap with incredible beats and lyrics) then buy this album. It will not disappoint. This goes along perfectly with The Chronic and many debate which album is better. Either way, you cannot lose with this album: It is easily one of the best rap albums EVER.
