Free Music Notes for DoggystyleFree Music Review: Excellent, even 9 years later Hit: 5 Stars
Going from my title and having read many of the reviews that are written about this album I feel I should point out that this album came out almost a decade ago. At that time, the music scene was MUCH different. Grunge had recently come to an end, r&b was still newish and 80s/90s rap was a dying breed. We had an influx of boy/girl bands singing mindless drivel about the other sex and we had a, for the most part, underground record label in Death Row records. When this album came out, it broke the mould. It fused rap and r&b and let every other rapper out there what the public wanted. This album, though probably not as relevant today as it was, was a reflection of the times Snoop and his compadres were living through. See it as a reflection and you'll not be dissapointed.
There's not one particular song on the album that stands out and that's the sign of a good album. It flows from song to song with an eloquence meant only for a classic. Buy this album even for nothing more than to have in your collection.
Free Music Review: One of the top 5 albums of all time Hit: 5 Stars
This is by far one of the best Hip Hop CD's EVER.. That's right I said EVER!!!!!!!... I was in 10th grade when this CD came out and I can remember cuttin' class just to go to the store and buy the tape. This CD is a classic from beginning to end. This is what real hip hop is. Nowadays people tend to only like hip hop if they are from that region. If you are from the south, you tend to listen to down south music, west coast is all about the west coast and East coast is all about the east coast. I'm from NY and when this tape came out, everyone had to have it. Regardless of where you were from at the time, there isnt anyone that cant pop this tape/CD in and not know, word for word, at least 5 or 6 songs from this classic. This is by far in my top 3 albums of all time and for the yourger generation, do not let the Snoop Dogg tracks that you hear now deter you from copping this CD. INSTANT CLASSIC... How anyone can rate it anything less than a 5 is beyond me... I said my peace.. ~ONE~
Free Music Review: This album is what got gangsta rap main stream Hit: 5 Stars
This is the album that really kicked gangsta rap into the main stream. Dr. Dre came along and had tons of success with The Chronic but honestly I think a lot of people thought it was a fluke. When Snoop Dogg released 'Doggstyle' it did 2 things. First, it proved that Dr. Dre is no fluke, period. Second, it showed that rap mixed with RnB can be not only radio friendly but great to listen to. My personal favorite is 'Murder was the Case' although Gin and Juice got much more air play. Unfortunately none of Snoop's albums since has been at this level but that's really not a knock against him, when you put out a great album it's all but impossible to duplicate it. The only reason I don't listen to this album more is the language and lyrical content (it isn't fit, in my opinion, for my 2 year old to hear) When I do get a chance to listen to it, however, it sounds just as fresh as when it was first released over 10 years ago - give it a listen and pick up a copy.
Free Music Review: Snoop in his prime!!!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Snoop Dogg reigned supreme in 93 with this CLASSIC. Snoop was perhaps one of the coolest rappers to emerge from the west during this time, and when he dropped this album, he took the east AND the west by storm. And what resulted was his ABSOLUTE BEST album to this very day. Here's the review:Album Highlights: The ENTIRE album, EVERY song here literally is a classic. Production: Thumbs up, laced with the supreme skills of Dr.Dre. Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up, Snoop doesn't rhyme like this today. Originality: Thumbs up. The Last Word: It's a shame that we don't have THIS Snoop today. But in 93, he was on top of the world, on top of his game, and TRULY in his prime. He didn't peak until he went to the corny No Limit Records in an attempt to resurrect his career. But with Doggystyle, he forged an unforgettable classic, up there with the likes of Dre's The Chronic. Another STRONG recommendation for this album. You won't regret buying this album.
Free Music Review: Best Album Ever Created! Hit: 5 Stars
There are NO ( ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, NONE) bad songs on the album. That is saying a lot too. Every song is nothing short of amazing. Snoop's smooth silky flow combined with G-Funk provided by Dre, Daz, and Warren G, and great appearances from Nate Dogg and the Rest of the Dogg Pound this album is just pure butter. Extreme genius in every one of his rhymes. This is my favorite album of all time by my absolute favorite rapper. A Fantastic album with such bomb songs as Gin & Juice, Aint No Fun, Whats My Name, Lodi Dodi, , Murder was The Case, Gz and Hustlaz etc etc. Anyone who is affiliated with rap or r&b needs this album. Yes newcomers go buy this album right this second cause the vets of the game already know and they already have it. You should be slapping yourself for even reading this review. Instead you should be spending time gathering loot to buy this ULTIMATE album. A must have for anyone. BUY It it is truly a listening experience.
