Free Music Notes for Something About AirplanesFree Music Review: all you wanna be punk rockers, stop putting down this album Hit: 5 Stars
ive been a long time fan of saves the day, the get up kids, etc... i found this band while looking up a further seems for ever album and then i saw it in record and tape traders and decided it was worth a try. i listened to it and wasnt too impressed at first, thought it was good but nothing too special. then i listen to the album for the rest of the day, and by the end the day, i was practicly in love with this album. its great. it grows on you. i love this album. some of those irritating punk-rock kids are used to screaming and shi t and cant understnd the genius of this band. some say it boring. its not boring! its emo!! BR>if your like me, this album could have a profound effect on your life. it did on mine.i know that sounds cheesey but hey. it completey opened up a new genre and widened my musical tastes to a more calm type of music. also it changed my personality... sort of... i think
Free Music Review: sometimes sentimental and other times inspiredrock Hit: 5 Stars
the album design is almost worth it alone. very simple and wellcrafted which could almost describe the music which it contains (isuppose thats what covers are suppose to do, eh?). i usually find this album at its most in the car at 2:00 am, after having a few to drink. it's slower songs lend itself well to misty sentimentality while the more up tempo songs provide excellent accompanyment to the roads sounds around. There live show is not to be missed by the way. Also, i must add a comment about the lyrics, i love the images they create, but their use of alliteration create music in and of themselves. Huzzah to the ones they call Death Cab for Cutie!
Free Music Review: One of my Favorites Hit: 5 Stars
To tell the truth, I can see why this album is only getting 3.5 stars. Nothing this great can appeal to everyone. I can see how some fans may be turned off by the whole lo-fi thing. That said, I think that this is by far the best Death Cab album. The melodies are amazing and Ben's voice compliments them perfectly. I just saw him live with Postal Service last night and came to the conclusion that he has to be my favorite singer save Elliot Smith. My favorites are bend to squares, president of what, and the face that launched 1000 shts. I don't know why I can't type that when it says the full title on the track listings.
Free Music Review: No Less Than Five Hit: 5 Stars
It deeply upsets me that this album has a rating lower than five stars. Though the snipets you can sample here on Amazon.com don't really do the songs much justice, I bought the album and was hooked after the very first listen. Each song has its own color and feel and runs smoothly into the next. Anyone who is not familiar with Death Cab For Cutie and is thinking about buying this album, here is my advice : do it! If you are into this musical genre AT ALL you will LOVE this album. You will be supporting a great band and adding a sparkling jewel to your cd collection.
Free Music Review: I have regained my faith in music. Hit: 5 Stars
Being quite frustruated with the kinds of things that have been crammed down music "consumer"'s throats recently, I can honestly say that this album is the best I have heard in years. Being a musician as well, I appreciate the unique approach to songwriting and very smart rhythms and changes this band tosses around while maintaining a pop-ish sound. It has been years since a CD has stayed in my CD player for months at a time. This one has been in for months, and there is no chance of it coming out anytime soon.
