Free Music Notes for Somewhere In Time (1998 Re-recording)Free Music Review: Lovely re-recording, but original much better. Hit: 4 Stars
Just purchased this re-recording and it's just lovely, but I still prefer John Barry's own original soundtrack to this one. This one is beautiful, as how can any of John Barry's music be anything but beautiful, but it's still not John Barry conducting his own music. I definitely notice a difference, although very slight. I think John Barry's own conducting skills really come through on his own original recording of this soundtrack. But if you are a true John Barry fan as I am (and have been for years), you still will love this new recording just the same.
Free Music Review: A must for any fan of the movie or of Barry Hit: 4 Stars
Since discovering and falling in love with "Somewhere in Time," I have sought out any connections to it where I could. Listening to this CD brings back the movie inside my head--a help when the VCR is not available to me. This is definitely romantic mood music, even for those who've never seen the film. A little candlelight, a glass of wine, and this CD, and the night belongs to love.
Free Music Review: Tasty Hit: 4 Stars
John Barry's simple, lilting theme music from "Somewhere in Time" is masterfully rendered in this CD. The movie is a sentimental classic, with Reeves and Seymour in the title roles. Christopher Plummer is wonderful as the villian. One of the most enjoyable parts of "Somewhere in Time" is the music. Now you can enjoy it anytime.
Free Music Review: Truly great music without the heart it should've had Hit: 4 Stars
This was a idea that should have been done long ago. This cd is the entire score of the movie "Somewhere in Time." The music is preternaturally beautiful of course, but I just feel that something is lacking in the conducting. It just somehow isn't the same without John Barry conducting.
Free Music Review: Have to have it Hit: 4 Stars
This is just too good not to have in the collection, but I think it's more than good enough work to have merited a better interpretation than it got here.
