Free Music Notes for Somewhere In Time: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Free Music Review: A memorable and moving film score
Hit: 5 Stars

The score for Somewhere in Time is truely amazing. I think it is one of the best scores ever written. It stays with you long after you have seen the film. The music is perfect throughout the movie. Each scene has exactly the right musical background. The most moving, for me, is the short piece of music that is heard in the scene where an aged McKenna is returning to her hotel room having met Collier. I find it some of the most moving music I have ever heard in a film. For me, I can listen to the score and visualize the scene in my mind, remembering dialog and even remembering clothes that were worn at the time. I think it is partly due to the score that this film has remained so popular over the years since it was released. The score made the movie memorable. It should be in everyone's film soundtrack library.

Free Music Review: LUSH ROMANCE
Hit: 5 Stars

John Barry, who composed some of the most memorable movie music ever recorded (James Bond theme; Born Free; Out Of Africa) created a soundtrack that in every way is superior than the film it underscored. Though the movie is a must for all romantics, with its heartbreaking premise of ill-fated time travel, the score works gorgeously on its own. A swirling, string-laden series of compositions built around a classic Rachmaninoff piece, this soundtrack is full of drama, emotion and beauty. It is one of those rare pieces of music that never ever grows old, and should be a part of everyone's music collection. Melancholy and evocative, this CD provides a wealth of romantic possibility, and has often underscored some of the most meaningful moments in my life.

Free Music Review: The one that had captured my heart.
Hit: 5 Stars

Having listen to more than hundreds of soundtracks, as well as many orchestral music and classical music, I dare say that not many pieces of them had captured my heart. And among them, Somewhere In Time was one of the best I have ever listen in my life.

I have this song played by many orchestra, including the Cincinnati Pops, Royal Philharmonic, and The City of Prague, The Royal Scottish, as well as some Piano solo version. However, the original one still worth having in my huge collection of Somewhere In Time. For a word, check it out and hear it yourself.

PS. I'm currently searching for the version from London Symphony. I have no idea if the LSO has ever play this or not. So, if anyone hear about that, please tell me. Thank you.

Free Music Review: Breathtakingly beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

Back in 1989 I fell in love with a much younger man who played the violin. I had recently seen the movie "Somewhere in Time" and just had to have the soundtrack. My beautiful lover gave it to me as a birthday present. As I was listening to it, I heard the song behind me. As I turned I saw him playing along with the music on his violin. He had learned to play it as a special surprise to me. He did it so beautifully I cried. To this day, I still think of this wonderful man and his very special gift of Love everytime I listen to the haunting sounds from my cassette. It is almost worn out so I had to purchase a CD from Amazon.com. I can hardly wait for it to arrive. It is by far my most favorite musical score ever.

Free Music Review: Hauntingly Beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

I remember seeing this film when I was a kid. I wasn't into the movie, but the music that played in the background kept me watching. Imagine, a kid watching a drama! Who'd a thunkit!

Anyway, this soundtrack contains two of the most beautiful classical pieces I've ever heard. Rhapsody on a theme of paganini is my all time favorite song. The second is the movies main theme. Although not really classical, it feels like it. Maybe neo-classical is a better description.

Even if you aren't a fan of the film, which I can't understand, you will love this soundtrack. Don't believe me? Listen to the samples for yourself and you'll see. This is one I can listen to over and over.
